I've been trying to remember the titles of four books from my youth for over twenty years now. Maybe some of you can help me.
During the early eighties I did a little road traveling and field camping. To entertain myself (before the age of cell phones, iPods, xbox, laptops, etc.) I read books. Still do. Since it would have been cumbersome to carry them with me while I roamed, I exchanged the ones I had read for discounts at used book stores to buy new ones.
I have always remembered four for some reason, but I can't find them anywhere. probably because I can't remember their titles or authors. Can you help me out? It's been driving me nuts for 20+ years.
Okay, one is about a military science experiment where a group of scientists and soldiers get their minds downloaded into tiny clones of themselves and then escape or get thrown out into a field and they must try to get back to a lab (I think) to try and reverse the process when the experiment goes wrong due to someone's betrayal.
The second one was about an agent on some mission. I remember his name: Ross Callum, but for some reason he was also called Steel or Steele.
The third was about five people taken from Earth seconds before their moment of death. They were transported to a fantasy world, and divided, where they received training and magic to help them on a mission. One had a stone which he could draw strength from. One had a knife and an invisible sword. One woman was part wolf. One woman had control over plants. The fifth was a black man, born with a white hand, who had the powers of healing and death.
The fourth was some sci-fi adventure about three people who share a life boat from a spaceship that's being abandoned, and they land on a planet where they have to use their powers to survive together. One (A young man) can teleport half a kilometer at a time, one (a middle-aged man) can read minds (but not project his thoughts) and one (a teen girl) is telekinetic. The teleporter uses his ability in a magic show where he "jumps" from one box to another on stage for villagers who think it's magic. The mind-reader pretends to tell people their fortunes. I don't remember what the girl did.
These books hold some sentimental value to me during a special time in my youth and I wouldn't mind finding them again. Wish I had never sold them. I've pretty much kept every single book I have ever read since then, which occupies not an unsignificant portion of my apartment, but these four still elude me. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
