I'm pamba19 and I'm a newbie in here. I love to read and enjoy many different genre. Currently I'm into the urban fantasy of Jim Butcher but also love historical fiction, sci fi, fantasy and some biography if it's a person I want to read about. Romance doesn't really do it for me except for Nicholas Sparks and Jane Austen. *S* Some of my favorite authors over the years have been Louisa May Alcott, JRR Tolkien, CS Lewis, Jasper Fforde, John Dunning and of course, JK Rowling.
 
Welcome aboard! We have some threads on some of the folks that you mentioned. Do a search and you'll find some good threads in a jiffy.

If you like historical fiction, check out E.L. Doctorow or Gore Vidal. They are two of my favorite when it comes to that genre.
 
Thank you for your suggestions. Have you ever read Inglis Fletcher? She wrote some wonderful North Carolina based historical novels. They start before the settling of the colony and continue until the signing of the Constitution.
 
I forgot to tell you that Inglis Fletcher wrote in the 30's and 40's so her stuff may not be readily available. They are really good though.
