From an early age Derek Jeter always said he would play shortstop for the New York Yankees.

This book reflects on the career of one of the best baseball players to play the game. It covers his high school days, the 1992 MLB draft and how 5 teams passed on this future hall of famer and he was picked by the team he always dreamed of playing for. The book covers his minor league days up to the 2010 season.

The book is not a biography of Jeter’s personal life as much as it is a biography of Jeter’s baseball life. The author mentions that Derek Jeter did not make many contributions to the writing of this book. The information in the book was gathered from interviews with friends, family, teammates, opponents, etc.

You don’t have to be a Yankee fan to enjoy this book. However, if you are a fan of the game of baseball the book is definitely worth reading.
