James O'Barr's The Crow

Question

Here's some dialogue:

Eric: Fun Boy, I cannot give you absolution...in a few moments your sins will be between God and you.
Eric: Have you read Milton?
Fun Boy: Yeah.
Eric: Lethe?
Fun Boy: Yeah. I understand.

Who's/What's "Lethe"? (There's supposed to be an accent mark on the 2nd "e") Is it a title? A writer/poet?

According to greek mythology, Lethe was a river in Hades (the underworld) that caused forgetfulness. The spirits of the dead would drink from this river and forget their earthly life. If i remember right according to Dante the spirits would cleanse themselves of guilt, not their earthly memories.

I've never actually read the comic, but i did see the movie.

Love this book! One of my fave graphic novels. The author's pain really comes through in certain parts of it.
