Great Book but doesn't anybody realised the similiarity in that book and LOTR.

The pearl - the ring
the trackers - the ringwraith
kino - frodo
kino's wife and kid - the fellowship
both items end of being thrown away at the end.
Similiar storyline
The item destroys the person inside.

. . . and LOTR springeth forth from the Nibelungenlied, which springeth from the Volsung Saga of Iceland, which springeth from . . .

Where does Harry Potter fit in this?

I suppose so. I can't recall harry potter.

Sorry for giving away the end I though people have read this book since it so popular.
It's a very good read and it's short.

oh that wasn't much of a spoiler! The real spoiler would be
to tell the fate of little Coyotito. And although the pearl did threaten to corrupt Kino, when he finally did give it up, he and Juana were stronger for it, as you can see by them walking side by side back to the village.

Interesting topic CoolGuy, I hadn't seen the connections before!
