Would like to have some discussion on this book.
I thought the first part of the book when Dr. Bodinson visits Applewhite is original and very creepy. In fact I had a hard time putting the book down. I thought I was on a terror voyage similar to "The Silence of the Lambs." But the book sputters after that. The book has no momentum as it details every nuance and conversation in various bars, and these scenes have no relevance to the plot.
Spoiler: My biggest gripe is that the resolution of the story brings in numerous characters and plots from Block's prior books - what a cheap trick.
I also felt the climax was a dud - it was way too easy for AB to get into the apartment building.
