Looking for new detective book series

I have been reading mysteries for 40 years and have worn out my Nero Wolfe's, Raymond Chandlers, Hammet's, Lawrence Sanders and Lawrence Block (burgular series). I would really like to find something similiar to Chandler and set in the 40's. Anybody have any suggestions for a series that is similiar?

thanks

I've had many hours of pleasure from all of Ross McDonald's novels. Set in California, they are infinitely complicated. And you might give Elmore Leonard a whirl, although the eras might not match up with what you are looking for.

thanks for the reply. I red some of the Lew Archer novels a few years ago, might be time to go thru them again. I will check out Elmore Leonard, too.

Any time you run out of detective novels there are always espionage stories, both fact and fiction, which are my favorite genre. /hint, hint/ :innocent: They are quite similar and also have excellent writers.

If you enjoy Lawrence Block, try his Keller series, only 4 in it so far. Block's rather bizarre, dry sense of humor shines.

Try Cornell Woolrich
If you put 1940s era mystery + suspense + thriller into your search engine you may find exactly what you're looking for

GOOD LUCK

Hi
How about UK based Stephen Booth - great plots , unusual setting and real page turners.
