Looking for romantic novels

Hi :)

I'm new here and I hope you can give me some recommendations. As the title says, I'm looking for some romantic novels. Can be any kind of stuff - fluffy, kitsch, with suspense and twists, included in crime stories, adult stuff (not porn, but may be "M-rated"). Can be individual books, I also love series of books featuring the same character.

Any recommendations about good hot and fluffy stuff - let me know!

Thanks :)

Claudia

I mostly think of romance and porn as the same thing, so I'd have to know what the difference, to you, is before giving proper suggestions.

Until then, I'll just tell you the ones that I brought to college!

The Highlander's Touch by Karen Marie Moning is a great story if you like books that are a little fantasy-esque, with a dribble of sci-fi. Basic idea is that a girl is sent back in time by accident by about seven centuries

Dark Magic by Christine Feehan is interesting if you can cope with women having to be subserviant to men.

Warrior's Woman by Johanna Lindsey is a definite Romance with a capital R. It's the sweetest thing. She falls completely in love with him and he for her, and yay for everyone! I melted reading it.

** I didn't hit submit, but when I came back a bit later, it'd posted itself. Probably my roommate, but either way, could someone delete that post since it's icky and not done? :)

:)

Now, now..Feehan repeatedly insists her Carpathian women are NOT subservient to men..the men just have this overwhelming need to insure their lifemate's survival..;) That said, this is a fun series just the same.

Hum, you're partly right. Sometimes it's hard to tell the difference - or to draw a line. About this, I think I have to judge myself. I like hot stuff (graphic language etc, it's okay if it fits the characters and the story), so just recommend whatever you think about ;-)

Usually I prefer "real life" stuff rather than fantasy or sci-fi, but if it's good, I think I can also handle that. I'll check out what you posted so far, so thanks for that for now! :)

The Anita Blake series by Laureen K. Hamilton are steamy, if you like vampires that is.
I started reading it because I like vampire stories and the first 3 or 4 books are actually quite good ones, but after that it is just soft porn (maybe not so soft) with a bit of gore thrown in. :(

I cant find anything else on my bookshelf that fits the "romance" theme.

I've read them all and loved them all. I will say that I never really considered them romance novels, but there are some pretty hot scenes in them.

I've read a few Amanda Quick novels and they're pretty good.

You may also want to look into Nora Robert's The Gallaghers of Ardmore Trilogy (Heart of the Sea, Tears of the Moon and Jewels of the Sun).

Catherine Coulter usually adds a bit of suspense/thriller to her books and many are set in modern times.

Also check out the Lymond chronicles by Dorothy Dunnett for a great historical romance.

The Ladies of Missalonghi by Colleen Mccullough. This book is said to be a copycat of The Blue Castle by L.M. Montgomery so I'll suggest it too.

I adored Lynn Kurland after reading When I Fall in Love. I fell in love with the characters and simply could not put it down, which does say something because usually I don't go for time-travel romances. Someday I will own all the books that woman has written!

Heh, well, I suppose so, abecedarian, but it seems to me that a lot of the time, that's just a delusion the women would like to believe. All too often, the men seem to expect instant obediance, although dear Raven and the rest have spines of steel despite this.

I was hoping that no-one would mention dear old LKH. I adored her works right up until Narcissus in Chains, at which point I realized that her brain broke and she turned her books into Playgirl, with fewer pictures. The first books are great, but if you're like me, and you'd like some sort of happy ending with a hint of closure, or even, for goodness sakes, for the main character to spend time in only one man's bed (or, perhaps, less than five?), then you're setting yourself up for a disappointment.

I'd also like to throw up The Captivation, published by Black Lace, written by Natasha Rostova. It's a great read, historical, insightful, etc.

I tried reading one of her books: A Kiss of Shadows. In truth I was not drawn in by the first couple chapters so I tossed it aside. It was a free book from a fantasy club meeting so I can be glad that I didn't waste money on something that I didn't end up reading all the way through...

I'm not really into romance but I have read these books and they seem to fit what you are looking for:

"The Notebook" By Nicholas Sparks
"Weep No More, My Lady" by Mary Higgins Clark
"Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas" by James Patterson

Nicholas Sparks is an amazing Author that writes romance novels that have mystery intertwined with them. I love Nicholas Sparks and his use of different themes throughout this novels.

If you like more of a murder mystery twist with romance just adde in here and there, but not the main plot line, I'd recommend JD Robb (Nora Roberts). It's also a bit sci-fi, taking place about 50 years in the future.
