Memento rocks!

You're mad! And Belgian!

I never said I wasn't!

I just thought Memento tried too much. A bit like a kid trying to be an adult and failing miserably. (The key word being miserably.)

momento was ok. I don't hate it but I don't love it either. It was simply ok. I agree with you that it seemed to try far too hard to be stylish and different. It just ended up looking like it was made by MTV.

Just go ahead and watch it again, you bloody barbarians!

Ok, let me ask you this; did you fully understand it?

Cheers

lol You think we can't like it only because we don't get it??? Of course I understood it. Understanding has no relation to why I don't like it. The direction was gimmicky and MTV like. The acting was poor. The script tried too hard to be clever and belaboured the whole forgetting thing way too much. As I said, I didn't hate it. It was an ok movie but nothing great because of it's faults.

Did I say that? The words 'jumping' and 'conclusion' come to mind.

I asked because many people think they understand they movie, that it's a clearcut story, told in an interesting way, but it isn't. There's more to it - way more.

Tell me, who killed his wife?

Cheers

If I remember
he did
but it's been about, what, 4 or 5 since I saw this movie. You will pardon the irony when I say I don't remember much of it at all!

I liked Memento.
There's this scene when he talks to the girl in the house and realizes some things. She then tells him that it doesn't matter 'cause he'll forget it soon. He tries to write it down in time but fails.
Just gorgeous.

If I remember
he did
That's the entire point, that's not for sure - he is given this info by a man who is about to be killed. This ambiguity is what makes this film so great!

Gizmo: Yess!

Cheers

Yes, and that is one of the reasons I didn't like it. They just played around with chronology to cover up the fact that the story was crap.

Noooo! Look, if the story were staight forward, then I'd agree with you - a plain and simple story tried to make interesting by cutting it up and shuffling it about.

But that's not the case. The story an sich is actually quite nifty and complex, even without the shuffling about.

Cheers

I remember this movie! I really liked it, especially the afore-mentioned scene whether the girl shows her true colours and there's nothing he can do about it. The movie gave me nightmares for a week! What a positively chilling concept to think what could happen if we had no short-term memory!

It's based on a short story written by the brother of the director called Memento Mori - I'd love to read that.

Cheers
