Micheal Connelly: 9 Dragons

Lincoln Rhyme

Summary: Harry Bosch is assigned a homicide call in South L.A. that takes him to Fortune Liquors, where the Chinese owner has been shot to death behind the counter in an apparent robbery.

Joined by members of the department's Asian Crime Unit, Bosch relentlessly investigates the killing and soon identifies a suspect, a Los Angeles member of a Hong Kong triad. But before Harry can close in, he gets the word that his young daughter Maddie, who lives in Hong Kong with her mother, is missing.

Bosch drops everything to journey across the Pacific to find his daughter. Could her disappearance and the case be connected? With the stakes of the investigation so high and so personal, Bosch is up against the clock in a new city, where nothing is at it seems.

My review: This series has become a hot mess since Lost Light hit the shelves. I feel as if this series is going into the wrong direction, when compared to the first 8 books of the series(which were all damn good, books, except for Black Ice,which was decent). I probably wouldn't have read this if it wasn't a Bosch book.

My rating: :star3:

Sorry to hear that - I've just put a hold on Angels Flight at the library - hope it's a good one. It's probably his latest - dated 2011

I agree with you that this isn't Connelly's best work. It seems to me like he is setting something up for the future. It wasn't really a mystery but read more like a thriller. I still love all his books and I'm looking forward to "The Drop" next month.
