Just finished this one. Good lord, 750+ pages and it ends in a cliffhanger


And the second book isn't out for like 6 months earliest


Regardless, I sure did enjoy it. Some of the best 'Space Opera' I've read. I liked it much better than Hamilton's Dysfunction series.

Anyone else enjoy this one?

Better than the Night Dawn Trilogy????

I'm waiting till all three are out and then I will read them back to back ( as I did with the Night Dawn Trilogy ) because I just can't stand to do it the other way. I hope it has a better ending than NDT.

Pandora's Star is the latest novel by Peter F. Hamilton.

Hold the phone ... Pandora's Star is part of a trilogy?? I was shocked enough to learn that it wasn't stand alone given the length, but jeez that will kill me if I have to wait for TWO more books (i.e., at least two more years).

I read the first 3 books in NDT and I was really enjoying the series until Al Capone showed up and it turned into some sort of space zombie story. That really bummed me out as it just isn't my thing. But I love his writing style, characters and tech, so I tried Fallen Dragon which I loved. That's what got me to Pandora's Star (which I thought was stand alone like Fallen Dragon).

You know they really need to advertise on the front if the book is part of a series. I just looked at my copy again and nowhere (except at the end of the story) does it indicate it is a series. Anyway, for those of you who don't mind starting a series that isn't completely published, this book is a wonderful read.

Peter F Hamilton IMO is the best SF author living, I can't wait to read this book, but I wasn't aware that it was part of a series, not that I don't like reading series but man, his series is so damn long that it take forever to finish it.

I had no idea this book involved and Alien attack. I thought he did a brilliant job of introducing the aliens by writing from their perspective while they studying the two human captives. At that point I could not stop reading the book. The method of the alien attack was really exciting too. Did anyone else who's read this book know that it was about and alien attack ahead of time?

i am forced to agree about the nights dawn trilogy... the space alien with famous peeps was over the top and a little sad but the rest was absolutely amasing

I just finished this book, though I have to admit I did a fair bit of skimming towards the end. I've been reading it for the last month, and just wanted to get on to something new.

Having said that though, I really did enjoy it - it is the first of it's kind that I have read; I know I will have to re-read it, when the series is complete (I recall reading on amazon.com that Part 2 is out next month ). I don't think I'll start Part 2 until Part 3 is done. There are so many characters to keep track of, and so much detail, and so many interweaving stories, that I think I'll be better off reading them in one go. I do want to read his other series though - he certainly can weave an engrossing story!

Also...does anyone think that the author could use a lesson in grammar? I'm far from the Grammar Queen, but I know when I should be using a semi-colon, or a comma, instead of starting a new sentence.
