This satyrical expose of Bahamian life is sure to make Bahamians squirm and the rest of us laugh. She sounds like a cross between a standup comic and an anti-tourism director. It almost sounds like she's warning us away from the Bahamas since the people are so wacky, but the humor is a tool to point out why the contradictions and problems in Bahamian culture are there, and to offer ideas to foster positive change. The book is funny, and we're meant to laugh at the all-too human contradictions that make up the Bahamian personality, but the author is inviting her fellow Bahamians to laugh too and use their strengths to overcome their weaknesses.
