This is a great historical novel about the birth of Bangkok in 1700's. It has many great battle stories about Thailand vs. Burma but I don't know if it is available in the west.

Paul Adirex. He was educated in America and was former Minister of Finance in Thailand and currently advisor to the prime minister. I read two of his other books which I also enjoyed. One was called The Pirates of Taratuo, which is anothrr factual historical novel about a prison camp during WWll in which both the Thai guards and Allied POWs became pirates. Another one was called Mekong, and is just an adventure novel.

Yes it was very interesting and exciting. I went and visited Taratuo and saw the prison camp, or at least where it used to be. It is a very beautiful island.
