Did You read any polish books? What do You think about them? Who wrote them? etc.

Hi cFaniak, I've only read a few I'm afriad:

This way for the gas, Ladies and Gentlemen - Tadeusz Borowski
Mortal Engines
Fiasco
Solaris - All three Stanislaw Lem
Collected Poems 1957-1997 - Wislawa Szymborska

I've been thinking of trying another Polish writer Witold Gombrowicz, but from what I've found out only one of his books, Ferdyduke I think, has been translated directly into English, the others have gone from Polish to French and then to English and as such have lost much of the original meaning. Have you read this guy? If so is he worth reading?

Regards,

Kenny

There's a thread on Polish books you might want to read, cFaniak.
Thx :)

@Kenny Shovel: IMHO Gombrowicz is one of the greatest polish writers. Unfortunately, he wrote tangly (not appropriate word, perhaps) books. I'd read 'Transatlantyk' and I was extreamly amazed. He is undeniable worth reading!
Szymborska is great, too.
