Ray Bradbury

I'm reading Green Shadows, White Whale at the moment, and it is absolutely delightful. There's a passage about a lift coming up its shaft which I read a number of times over, so good I found it.

He is one of a handful of authors that are in my permanent collection, I have Dandelion Wine, The Martian Chronicles, The Golden Apples of the Sun, The Toynbee Convector, and have read but not own Driving Blind and Death is a Lonely Business.

He's not just a writer, he's a craftsman. An artiste, even.

I had the same reaction to Green Shadows, White Whale.

If you enjoyed Dandelion Wine, then I highly recommend Farewell Summer.

I read "The Man Upstairs" the other night and thought it had a lot of interesting elements for a vampire story. The ending was surprising.
 
I read Fahrenheit 451 when I was younger and had to for school. I enjoyed it, but I re-read it a few years ago and it makes a lot more sense now. I think so many of the books we are forced to read in school need to be re-visited when we are older so we can grasp more of the meaning behind it. Just my humble opinion... :)

I totally agree.
 
91 is a well lived life. Highly worthy of praise. Much older than Asimov, Philip K.Dick, Shakespeare, Pushkin, Carl Sagan, Edgar Alan Poe, Orwel.
A.C.Clarke lived a long life as well.
 
In some corner of my mind there is a list of people I wish could live on my street. Ray Bradbury was already penciled in; now I see I need to add Neil Gaiman as well. Very classy eulogy.
 
R.I.P. Ray Bradbury. He passed away while i was reading The Martian Chronicles, it took this book only to convince me that he was a genius. I had to read Dandelion Wine for school but I was too dumb at the time to appreciate it. My friend deeply appreciated it but at the time I didn't care for much but I did have important things to do at the time.
