Tech. question re: logging in and out

I usually never log out of this forum - I usually just close the window. Does this mean that I am automatically logged out? I mean, do I still appear online then?

No, you should only appear online when you are actually on the forum

I'm not sure about this. I never log out, and once I was off surfing other sites and someone here said that they thought I was here because I was still listed.

I think this might be to do with the update speed of the "who is online" page. If you sit and watch "who is online" page then you will notice it update from time to time. I think maybe that is where you might seem online and you are not?

Yeh like they said - you stay logged in for a little while then it times out. I promise I've logged in plenty of times and not seen Kookamoor on the who's online list!

You remain in the "Who's Online?" list for five minutes after departing the site. A cookie remains on your computer and this is picked up by the forum every time you log on.

Ah... all good! I was worried that I was always online or something and people must think I'm truly addicted to this site - really, I do have another life! I also have a thesis that needs writing and I'm stuck in a rut... so procrastinating on here is lovely

When you log in you have the option to have it remember you (thus meaning you do not have to log in everytime). This means that you are not logged out everytime you close the window. You remain visible in the online users list for 15 minutes after your last period of activity.
