'The Company of Strangers' by Robert Wilson

Great WWII spy thriller in the le Carre tradition. A young, female mathematician is recruited by the Brit Secret Service to be a spy in Lisbon, the setting for Wilson's last spy novel, A Small Death in Lisbon, where she falls in love with a German agent and gets mixed up in Germany's plan to build an atomic bomb. After that the plot stretches all the way to the fall of the Berlin Wall.

I loved the 2 that I've read by Wilson and I think they're the best spy books I've read since the early books of Follett. Highly recommended!
