Unread Books

omigod, you are so on a roll tonight. i am snorting here in my kitchen and then my husband is saying what are you laughing at, but you can't explain this to a non-reader.

Tell him that you've found a new political/porn site. That you got tired of books, books, books, all the time.

!Not to worry!

:D

Anyone else thinking of the Twilight Zone(or maybe it was a parody) of the guy who is the last man on earth who now has all the time he wants to read until he manages to break his glasses?

Moral of the story: read your books before you break your glasses I guess.

I can see the man's face, and his glasses, right now. It was Twilight Zone".

A real nightmare.

I have an entire shelf of John Grisham. I'm never in the mood for lawyers whenever I choose a book to read.

books books books

I just cannot resist buying books when i see them on sale or second hand. Luckily, I'm pretty good at diverting my attentions when they are still full price. But, yes, my 'to read' pile is ample.

I have over 200 books on my TBR bookshelves. I also have a couple dozen in my car, in random basement boxes and in other assorted places. It's never enough though, and I spent $125 at the bookstore yesterday (and that's after a 10% discount). I'm in the process of getting all of Dumas' works and it has turned out to be costly.

What I remember more vividly is the Futurama spoof of that Twilight Zone. The Scary Door.

'You are in the vicinity of an area adjacent to a location. A place where there may be a monster or some kind of weird mirror. These are just examples, it could also be something much better. Prepare to enter.... The Scary Door!'

Why don't you read those books that you've bought? Lazy? Overwhelmed? What's the reason?

For me it is all about my mood. Yesterday I bought about a dozen books. Only two of them are books I want to read "right now". The rest are all books I know I will be in the mood for at some point and I would rather have them on hand. The bookstore is a good half hour away and it is hard to get the motivation to drive all the way out there alone sometimes (alone is better - can buy books without getting "frivilous spending" dirty looks from boyfriend).

Yep, another sucker for bargains right here. I don't even want to think about how many unread books I have on my shelves, I might get too depressed to do anything! I love buying books pretty almost as much as reading them but he problem with me has been that I've had an exhausting year with my studies, I've been working evenings and a rather active socal life ... So bedtime and sitting on the bus reading have been pretty much all I've had time for for a while. :( Luckily it's summer now so I should have time for all the reading I want to do.

Now I have even MORE unread books!! Went to the used book store and got 4 there and then I went to the library and got some new Star Trek books lol...unread books...gotta love em!!! Of course I have to take those library books back, but that's ok. :p
