Victorian era publisher

I've been trying for some months to find the full name of the publisher of "A Ring of Rubies" by L.T. Meade in 1892. All I have to go on is the publisher name 'Innes' from a list of mystery novels from that author. Since the book was published in London as all of her books were, it's not William T. Innes, an aquarium book and magazine publisher of Philadelphia US.

I've been searching for a first edition of the book, but can't put in on my published want list if I can't say precisely who published it. I'm aware W&R Chambers published that book a year later, but being a serious collector of Meade first editions, have to have the full name of the Victorian era publisher 'Innes'.

I realize this is a obscure question, since B&R forum seems to concentrate on more recent work. But I figured I'd ask it anyway.

So anyone know the full name of the Victorian era publisher named 'Innes'?

I assume you've checked Google Books? They say the publisher is A.D. Innes and Co.

In 1893 yes. But not 1892.

Mershon Company

The Mershon Company was based in New Jersey USA. All L.T. Meade first editions were published in Great Britain. Try again Will.

Here's a first edition but stems from 1921 (?) and its publisher is Ward, Lock, and Co. Ltd in London.

Thanks very much for your effort Polly, but since Meade died in 1914, that can't be a first edition. That abe books seller is in error.

There are four books that were first published after her death, four manuscripts remained that were published in during WW1. The last of the 306 books written in her career was first published in 1917.
