I've read The Book Thief, and it while it's ok I suppose, it certainly isn't among my top 100, or even top 1000, but I've wanted to read Roots for a long time and just happen to have a copy.

I'll abstain, rather than produce what at this point would be another tie. Book Thief certainly has room for discussion, and I have read it. Sounds like a re-read will be in order.
