You're on holiday and when checking your email you realize your library books are due. No problem, renew online...nope! The books all have holds on them so they are unrenewable. Fail.
I just caught a little blurb on TV that there is a movement afoot in some school libraries to ban the Hunger Games as being too violent and sexually explicit.
Whaaat? Sexually explicit? Really? I must have missed that bit darn it. I have just been Googling to find any info and it doesn't...
Hello all! I've been home for a bit, but just haven't found the time to post til now. Thanks for all the book suggestions you gave me. I read bunches, but didn't get through everything I took. I read:
13 1/2 - Nevada Barr
Must Love Hellhounds - Edited by Charlaine Harris
The Grimm Curse -...
My brain is swiss cheesed. I am stumped. I read some great little books a year or so ago and my daughter would like to read them on our trip. I can't for the life of me remember the Author, Title, or the correct name of the main character. Here's what I remember.
Main character is Bobbie...
Only 15 sleeps left til we leave for Panama! I can't wait for a vacation! Its supposed to be sunny and beautiful there right now.
I'm about to load up my Kindle in preparation. I've got lots of books on it but I like to have a couple of good "beach reads" in there. Light, humorous and easy...
That sounds a bit odd doesn't it? Bear with me and I'll explain.
Thanks to this forum, I've been able to download Mobi books from our library and convert them to read on my Kindle. That is no longer possible with the advent of Kindle books available at online libraries.
So what is the...
OK, where do I go to borrow books from eLibrarys? I have gone through the eBooks at my city library and I think I've exhausted those I'm interested in. Where else can I go?
I've followed the instructions given here but can't get the stupid book to open. I get a message telling me to remove it from my device and download again. What the *bleep* am I doing wrong?
I was returning books to the library yesterday and wasn't paying enough attention. I got home and picked up the pile of books that I DIDN'T return only to discover that I'd returned the book I was still reading and kept one that I'd finished! Since I'd been on hold for some time to get the...
OK, this author is fairly new to me. I find her work quite engaging. The fact that she is Canadian surprised me a bit. I read her juvenile series (Summoning, Awakening, Reckoning) first. I've read quite a few of her books now and enjoy most of them.
Anyone else read her stuff?
OK, so I read in the tub. Always have, always will. Now that I have the Kindle I see no reason to stop this practice. I just put the Kindle in a big Ziploc and away I go. I did the same thing by the pool and on the beach (for the three minutes my Kindle survived Mexico!).
My DH walked into...
OK, I'm a newbie, so forgive me if I'm way out of line here. I'd like to get to know y'all a bit better. I thought maybe if I posted a few questions some of you would jump in and start answering. I'll start.
What do you do for a living?
What kind of reader are you?
Passionate about?
Pet...
So, I am now on my THIRD Kindle since February. I received my Kindle for my birthday and was just absolutely tickled! I went a bit nuts downloading all the freebies, buying a ton of stuff I'd been unable to get quickly at the library and generally having a blast. One day I was reading and my...
I've just been invited to attend a book club with some other teachers and I'm kind of stoked. The suggestion for this month is a biography. I'm stumped. I don't read biographies, or autobiographies and just haven't a clue what I should read.
Anyone read one that is wonderful lately? I could...
OK, I'm one of those weirdos who has several books on the go at any one time. Got one beside the tub, one in progress on the Kindle, one in my "work" bag, and one from the library that has to get back in a day or so. That one gets priority. I'm not always like this, but more often than not I am...
