This . . . actually looks awesome, although I still have doubts about Rooney Mara's Lisbeth. For what it's worth, that is Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs performing The Immigrant Song.
 
Performing? More like raping it.

Also, besides it being a remake of the Swedish original, I did not like the book much so won't be watching this one.

...oh dear FSM, they're really going to pull out every clichéd scandinavian reference, aren't they? I bet there'll be a scene where Lisbeth visits IKEA in her Volvo while humming "Waterloo".

Though I'm still sort of hoping Fincher has kept the idea of having everyone fake a Swedish accent. That would make it the most hilarious movie of all time.
 
I won't watch it. I don't like Daniel Craig much and there already exists 3 perfectly fine adaptations of the books. Which I own on blu-ray. And enjoy.
 
I was skeptical about this version until watching the first movie (supposedly the best of the trilogy). Noomi Rapace was a flawless Lisbeth, but the film was a disappointment.
 
I haven't read any of these books or watched the films. Maybe it's time I did...
 
I'll watch anything that Fincher does, even if it is a movie adaptation of an overhyped series of books.

While Rapace did a great job in the original films I had the nagging feeling that she was slightly too old for the part. Mara Rooney feels better, in that respect, though it has to be seen whether she can pull off as thoroughly decent a job as Rapace did.

Still, Fincher. Enough said.
 
I suppose it could be said that Rapace was a little older than Lisbeth was in the book, but I felt that could be attributed to her difficult life. I don't think there would have been any softness in Lisbeth, and the planes of Rapace's face were in line with that for me.

I suppose we'll be compelled to watch the new version, even though we both loved the original Swedish versions. I don't know a thing about Rooney, for me she is too soft for the role, of course I'm only going by pictures of her I've seen. But I think Craig will be perfect for Blomkvist.

I couldn't make out much detail in the trailer, too dark.

Though personally, I still can't find the idea of having US actors deliver English dialogue in fake Swedish accents anything but hilarious. Maybe I should watch it after all, it could be the funniest unintentional comedy since The Room if they do it enough.
 
And to think that I never knew some of my favorite movies were remakes -- and some 'foreign.' Amazing! :eek:
Much hoopla, but it fills newspaper columns.
