In case you are wondering, there is no "I don't have one" because I don't care that you don't have one.

I have a Kindle and a Nook Color.

I have a trusty ol' Sony PRS-350 that's served me well for a few years now. I'm looking to upgrade before it falls apart on me, probably to a Kobo Glo if I can get my hands on one (and if it's not too big - I like that I can fit my Sony, with cover, in my coat pocket).

Did you hear about the TxtrBeagle? It's an interesting idea.

Heard about it, talked to them about it, played around with it. As e-readers go it's very bare-bones - not only can't you store books on it*, but you can't really do much with them once they're on the device; can't change text size, can't make notes, can't search within the book, etc. That said, it's ridiculously cheap, the screen itself is fine, and if they manage to get the deals they need to get it off the ground, I wouldn't mind having one for bringing to the beach etc. But it's not a substitute for a proper e-reader.

* The device doesn't actually read EPUB files, it just reads images of EPUB files that are sent over from your phone by Bluetooth. Since these are pretty big, it can only hold 3-4 novels at a time.

I agree that it is not a proper e-reader but at that price point, it's perfect for some niche uses.

I have a HTC G2 that I retired and now serves duty as an alarm clock on my night stand. I could enable bluetooth on that and use the Beagle as my dedicated in-bed reader. Hmmm....

Kindle and Kindle for PC. It holds all my e-cookbooks (85) and my nursing texts (40)...made my nursing bag a lot lighter. I also have a selection of favorite novels as I like to re-read things that I can put down for extended periods as I know the story and there are no cliffhangers. I only read the Kindle when I am out and about, Dr's appointment and such.

Have a basic kindle, but I almost exclusively read on the kindle app on my droid razor. Screen is big enough and I have it with me everywhere anyway. I am probably incinerating my eyes or something, but... oh well.

I am an Amazon girl

I have a Kindle Fire. My daughter has a Kindle. And my original Kindle 2nd gen is now owned by my father. I was thinking about getting the Kindle Fire HD but there are too many distracting things so I may just get a Kindle Paperwhite.

Any thoughts?

Mine is still the old original sale-price version-with-ads. Workin' fine.
The ads are fun. :D

Paperwhite then report back.

i have an iRiver Story from a few years back now, it was one of the first e-ink readers i think.. i loved it for ages, but now i prefer my iPad.. i blame my eyes for this choice. :)

Currently using the plain with adverts Kindle, and a Kobo that I've retired.
Getting the urge for a Kindle Fire though, can't decide if it's worth it to me. Probably not at that price though.

I think a Fire is well worth the price if you also have paid Prime and watch a fair bit of movies and TV.

Yeah, we have Prime, have for many years, and we do stream (free stuff) to our TV. I don't think I'd much care for watching that on such a small screen as the Kindle Fire has.

Also I wondered about reading on it.....I've seen lots of bad reviews regarding the back lighting being hard on the eyeballs. True?

I haven't found it to be a problem and I can read for 12 hours a day if my schedule is free enough. If you're worried about it though, you might want to go for a non-lit screen and purchase a cover with a light for reading at night time.

yes.. i read from the iPad, and have no issues with my eyes.. well, no extra issues anyway. :) i like that i can read at any time of night or day, but i do lower the brightness some most times to save on battery and glare.
