i am a guy and i like romance books.and, no, i dont mean adult romance books (i have never read any of them anyway). i lived karin (chibi vampire in the u.s.) and i was very happy when artimis fowl started getting romance elements into it.

do u think i am wierd??

(and, yes, i am straight. just making sure that was clear)

Like romance novels??? cause i read iris Johansen books, and they have romance but id say out of 400 pages maybe only 6 AT MOST are devoted to romance. But also romance like all actions provokes feelings, Whether the books happy, sad, violent, horror, or romance they can give feelings. Romance can easily make someone feel happy or reflect on times past or anything really. When i read War and Peace the romance between the prince and Natasha made me happy and smile allot. So i find it very normal. Its just about how the book makes you feel who cares what anyone else thinks.

you have to read War and Peace for school at some point, right? my mom was telling me about it and how it was like one of the longest, drawn out books she ever read. how long exactaly is it?

Not sure about reading it for school, i have never heard that. I'm not sure how long exactly it was.it took around a week to read.

Firstly, you seem to be talking more about manga than literature, and with the heavy increase in the popularity of manga in the last few years it isn't at all uncommon for men, teenage and older, to be interested in the romance side of the phenomenon (do dodo doo). And then in the case of young adult fiction it could just mean you're able to appreciate all the different elements of storytelling and the contruction of the plot. It isn't wrong for guys to like the romantic side of stories, as far as I was aware your gender can have emotions of that sort without rendering you homosexual. ;)

If by weird you mean outside the norm then, yes, you are weird in terms of what you read.

If by weird you mean "OH MY GOD!! FREAAAAK!!! RUN from the FREAK! RUN for your LIVES!!!", then no, you are not weird.

Read what you enjoy and don't worry about what others think.

No, you aren't weird. I read Les Miserables and the Hunchback of Notre Dame, and they were great, imo. And read Jane Eyre and Scarlet letter and other 'romances'. And as you stated, Artemis Fowl turning romantic? So what? Then, is Eoin Colfer wierd for writing it? I don't think so.

I don't read horror, plainly because I don't enjoy it. That doesn't mean that I think that readers of horror books are wierd.

Keep reading what interests you.

It all depent on what you call romance. If war and peace, les miserables,or the crimson and black are in the category,so are most of literature involving humain relation and love. You also should have a look at Lenny nero snutty section for an even wider :D deffinition of romance.

i don't think its weird if being a guy one loves romantic books. being a voracious reader ,i like reading all kind of books which includes the romantic books too. of course i i can't go on with the mushy romantic Mills and Boon series which my sister is crazy about. but then who wouldn't fall in love with Eric Segal's LOVE STORY!

Why would it be strange? Everyone has their own personal preference on what they like so why just coz your a guy you can't read romance? Id say never mind what anyone thinks and you do what you like :)

So does that mean I'm weird because I'm a chick and I hate, hate, hate reading romance novels? I won't go near them with a 100 foot pole and I run screaming out of the bookstore if they are nearby.

No, it isn't weird, only weird that anyone would think it's weird. ;)

There is no known universe in which that is weird. Nobody should ever be shamed for reading what makes them happy (with obvious exceptions, like illegal deviant things). If you like romance manga, read romance manga. You rock, so keep on being you!
