What do bookworms do for exercise?

Since a lot of you are self-described bookworms, I’m wondering what you do for exercise? What gets your heart pumping faster, and makes the sweat boil out of your pores? What do you do if you're not a bookworm. I don't really think of myself as a bookworm.

I also wonder this because so many of you live in different places around the world. Maybe there’s some really interesting activities you are engaged in.

Last night I played ice hockey for well over an hour. Never underestimate the importance of stretching before intense skating. Especially your groin….ouch.
Ice skating really works muscles that don't get much attention from other forms of regular exercise.

I also try to jog at least 2 times a week when the weather permits. Usually around 5 kilometers each time I go out. Winter makes this very tough to do sometimes.

Last, I have a dog that gets walked at least twice a day (no matter what the weather) by me for a total of maybe around 2 miles. But that does not really make my heart beat faster or cause sweat. Unless we meet another dog along the way. I have a 50lbs. pitbull. She lacks a few social skills. Amazing how strong 50lbs. of pure muscle can be.

well i go to the gym when i can and take a crazy class called on the ball with mandy. we use those massive excercise balls and roll around and balance and squeeze and pulse and tighten and spread and flail about. apparently this will make me ripped. so far i've just hurt my ass cheeks.

well, I consider the turning of pages exercise! :D

I walk my dog in the mornings, this can last anywhere from one minute to 20, depending on if he hears anything that makes him run for home. (he's very shy). He is overweight and can pull me behind him at a rather fast pace, which gets my heart pumping. We also play ball in the back yard twice a day in all weathers except for sub zero temperatures and pouring rain.

For other exercise, housework is unbeatable-the faster the better to be able tosit down and read. Otherwise, I'm a slug. :p

Most of the exercise I do now is walking our two dogs. Our eldest gets 1 1/2 hrs per day minimum and our youngest gets about a hr (though it can be less if I take them out on the bike), I also like to ride when I get the chance.

My dogs currently weigh 75 and 80lbs respectively (though the 80lb one is only 9 months old so still has some growing to do!) so I know what you mean when you say how strong they can be - added together they weigh more than I do

I play snooker, does that count as exercise?

Oh wait, I also play Racketball (Racquetball?), which, in Dutch, is called Squash. And let me tell you, that is one hell of an exercise!

Cheers

I swim or skate, depending on the season, and walk several miles a day. I love dancing too. :) I'll be joining a gym soon too. That's pretty exciting!

Since I am a ninja pirate I get plenty of exorcise battling my foes and plundering ships for booty off the Spanish main. Arrrrrrrrrr.

You spoil my fun!

Neg: You stink and spoil my fun!
Pos: Your name is Martin and so you are very cool and have the best name in the whole universe!

Walking dogs seem to be favourite! That's my exercise too. And my rottweiler isn't very fond of other dogs either... He weighs about 47 kilo's, my other dogs is about 28 kilo's and is a bit better behaved (just a bit..).

Yoga, when I can get motivated. And a treadmill, which is boring but effective. I need to stay thin so I can spend money on books instead of new, bigger clothes.

I tromp along after Ice and the dogs looking moody because I was forced out of bed at 06:30 in the morning, and generally fall over on the mud! :)

Other than that, I used to play football, cricket and rugby ... now I still play them, only they are provided from the comfort of the computer room by EA Sports :D

I used to fancy myself a triathlete but he who has smelly feet reminded me that triathletes swim, so a duathlete I became. I don't cycle anymore, although I like going for a trot. I also walk to and from Uni (40 mins. up and 30 mins down, twice a week).

I have home exercise equipment (stair climber, hand weights, etc).

Is drinking beer exercise?

a duathlete

Is that some form of bowel disorder?
Typical bloody student, talking about smelly feet and bottom problems. **** off and eat lentils.

I have a manditory PE lesson every week, but other than that I'm hibernating until summer.

I used to play hockey and rugby, but not anymore. I also drum a lot and walk home from school every(other) day, which is about 15 minutes walking time.

I really am lazy... oh well, on with reading...

In case you hadn't noticed we were off thread here and I'm insulting bloody students. Get with it you bloody student. Are you studying accountancy?
