Most hated 'classic' novel you've actually read

Some advice...I'm a HUGE fan of Jane Austen, but Emma is my least favorite book of hers. If you haven't read it already, try Pride and Prejudice...the heroine is much more likable! :p

    Disturbing Trend in Education

Holy cow. Now I remember why I try to stay away from this forum. This argument is stupid and useless; it's not going to go anywhere. Calling each other names, putting one another down...what's the freakin point?? Colt, you have to admit that when you started this thread, you expected a...

    Recently Purchased/Borrowed

Agnes Grey by Anne Bronte The Book of the Dead by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child and I just borrowed Jude the Obscure from my parents' library The Book of the Dead was amazing, the best book I've read so far this year. I'm now reading Agnes Grey, which I've been wanting to read for...

    Recently purchased DVDs

I just got Agnes of God, with Meg Tilly and Jane Fonda. It was one of my favorite movies as a kid, and I really enjoyed watching it again! It's a bit creepy, though, but I like that.

Most hated 'classic' novel you've actually read

I normally love the classics, but there are a few that were too boring for me: 1. The Grapes of Wrath - one of the most boring books I've ever read 2. Adventures of Huckleberry Finn - got about halfway through 3. For Whom the Bell Tolls - that book never seemed to end, so I just gave up

    Happy 4th of July!!

Just wanted to wish everyone a Happy 4th of July! I'm preparing to watch the Seattle fireworks on TV, and I can hear them going off all around me right now! I don't know why, but watching fireworks always makes me feel choked up! :o

    John Grisham

I haven't read any of Grisham's newest books, but a few of his older ones. My favorites are A Time to Kill, The Client, and The Rainmaker. I thought The Firm was pretty dull.

Where in the Pacific Northwest are they located? I live in the Seattle area, but I've never heard of them.

    Buy books?

I'm starting to feel inspired by all of the people who use libraries! I seriously have so many books that I will probably not read again. So, here's my mid-year resolution. I will gather up all of the books I know that I will not read again, sell them to a used book store, and get a library...

    Construction of your personal library?

My library is a mess. I have one large, cheap bookcase that is overflowing, 2 smaller bookcases in the same state, books in boxes in our closets, and in piles on the floor. My parents just remodeled their house and they had built-in bookcases made in the family room and in the small office...
