    What books have you hated?

Same thing happened to me! I loved the movie, but it is not based on the book at all. I never got through that book... I really hated the last in the Harry Potter series - but my hatred probably began because I only disliked it after I read it, but when everyone started professing their love...

    Recently purchased DVDs

My husband just bought me Twilight and two Indiana Jones movies. Go figure, I detest all of them! I received Diving Bell and the Butterfly as a gift recently, however, and that's become my favorite French film.

    South Park

I find the website South Park Studios to be one of the best for watching South Park episodes online. As far as the show goes, I avoided it as long as possible for some reason. I ended up having a marathon and going through all the seasons this past few months. Love it! I agree that it can be...

Top 100 African books of the 20th century

Excellent list! One of my favorite books is Things Fall Apart. I recently read Nervous Conditions for a class on Coming of Age novels and I thoroughly enjoyed it, although I find the language style a bit dense at times. I'll have to check out the other titles.

    Current Non-Fiction reads

I've been steadily reading Genuine Origami by Jun Maekawa. It's a more complex look at folding than most other books on the topic. It's very interesting! I suggest if you are an avid folder to look into it. For class I'm reading The Virgin Queen by Christopher Hibbert, although I find it very...

Can we create our own reality?

Is talk of Good and Evil a little too black and white? Surely we don't choose to be evil or good depending on the situation. Most of the time we don't even think about it, we just do what we feel is right at the time, or what will benefit us the most. I suppose in this way I don't feel we have...

The first sentence in the book you're reading

"If music be the food of love, play on." Twelfth Night, of course! I was very turned off by Shakespeare when I started with Romeo and Juliet, but I'm starting to enjoy/appreciate his works much more. Thank you, college education :)

    Recently Purchased/Borrowed

I own Jane Eyre too, but it's in the Barnes and Noble Charlotte Bronte collection, so it's this massive book that's entirely too difficult to hold....Sister Carrie is a good buy too :) (Never heard of Such a Long Journey, though). My recent buys are Twelfth Night, Nervous Conditions by Tsitsi...

What are you listening to Right now?

Iron and Wine - Passing Afternoon Haven't heard "So Happy Together" since the first Super Smash Bros commercial! Fun song.

    New Alice in Wonderland...?

Knowing Tim Burton, this will be a "kids" film, kind of like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, but end up being a fairly twisted version of a children's classic. Not that I'm complaining.

    Frankenstein and Dr. Jekyll Remakes

Excellent. I was really impressed with del Toro with Pan's Labyrinth. I read the article and also saw Slaughter-house Five, which I have to say I'm probably most excited about. I'm rather sick of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hide, but I trust del Toro in creating something interesting.

    Fyodor Dostoevsky

Almost. A little over a hundred pages to go.

    Fyodor Dostoevsky

I completely agree. A great writer makes fantastic, realistic characters. Dostoevsky is a genius at this.

    Do you take book notes?

Same here. My books get wickedly messy.

    Emily Brontë: Wuthering Heights

That's odd...I never even noticed that! Time to bring out the book to see for myself...
