Do You Own a Gun(s)?

If so, what caliber gun(s)? I own a .357 Magnum revolver:

No, but I used to shoot all the time back in the day.

Chances are good I stand to inherit my dad's gun collection when he passes.

Last year, in another thread called medication - do you take any? you said this:

Sadly I must take medication. I suffer from Bipolar Disorder (Manic Depression) and Anxiety. I take the following:

  • Lithium - 1200 mg daily
  • Effexor XR - 225 mg daily
  • Lamictal - 100 mg daily
  • Abilify - 5 mg daily
  • Xanax - 1 mg (or more as needed) daily

The combination of guns and medication scares me, especially since there's no need for anyone to have guns anyway. (And don't nobody go quoting Second Amendment nonsense - that's outdated and can just as easily be amended back.)

Aside from shooting ranges, I am not aware of any place that offers gun rentals. That would just make it too easy for criminals.

As an aside, I would love to own these three firearms as collectibles and not to ever fire:

Oh my god, I agree with Stewart on this.

..............but not this......

Ownership isn't easy? (Anyway, this is much of a diversion from the original questions, and should probably move over to the Gun Control thread.)

Why do you want to lock it away in the Mature Discussions section?

I don't own a gun, and will never do so.
In my country most of the people who owns guns use them for hunting.

I think that to many people own guns. It shouldn't be nesecary to have a gun in your house to feel safe.

Ditto. I hate guns and everything they represent. I would never feel safe with a gun at home...

Me too

I would not own a gun, but if I had one for hunting I would keep it locked up at all other times.
When my children were young, I did not even let them have toy guns. They were, however, permitted to point their fingers at each other and say "Bang! Bang!"
No, they did get guns as soon as they were no longer under my control.

I had a gun when I was younger, growing up on the farm. It was a .22 rifle that was used for shooting gophers. Now, I have no need or desire to own a gun.

I have guns that have been in my family, my grandpa's service revolver, an old German automatic pistol and a little 22, I don't have bullets for them. We did sometimes take them to the range but bought ammo there, shot it there and didn't take any home. I also keep the guns locked away in a gun safe, in rented storage because with the number of kids I have in my house I didn't want them at home (and now that we are in another country I've left them in the US) but I didn't want to part with them either.

incorrect

if one gets shot by a gun and dies then we are simply doing our part to keep the population of humans down.
they are very helpful items in the killing of beef as well.

Guns are disgusting and they do no good in today's society.

Bit of a sweeping generalisation there old bean, don't you think?

I don't own a gun, but if I lived in a rural area I'd like to have one to shoot game for the pot and suchlike. Rabbits, woodpigeon, that sort of thing. If I could jump through all the hoops that UK gun licencing insists on first, that is!

They don't shoot cows with guns. They stun them then bludgeon them. Seems like a head shot would be more humane.
