One of the first-New york 1997-is pure delight to me,"i though you dead snake" .And so was -Escape from LA-Kitcher but real good
Then the mad max serie-some better than other but cool all the same.
Water world-not to bad-thanks to Dennis hopper

the recent one's 28 days later,I'm a legend,...

sure i forgot plenty!

I'd love to see a film adaptation of Robert R McCammon's Swan Song. At least The Stand got filmed though. But King is Hollywood proven so that Stands to reason!

Dare I mention ....... Tank Girl

Maybe not truley in the genre but my favourites would include "On the Beach" and "Planet of the Apes" - although I was young when I saw that and the ending was a real wow moment.

The Resident Evil series was quite good. Only the last one was truly a post-apocalyptic movie, but it was glorious.

I haven't seen Doomsday, but I really want to. Anyone want to go to this movie with me?

Tank Girl is glorious. It's wonderful 90's music and a true feminist hero.

I'm a big fan of post-ap movies. I've never seen Damnation Alley, but I'll have to check it out.

On the Beach is good, it was also made into a mini series in Australia that was pretty good as well.

Don't forget the mid-80's nuclear war triumvirate of The Day After, Testament, and my personal fave, Threads.

Escape from New York is what i meant by New york 1997(french title)
"The planet of the apes",even the remake was good.
I'll check out the others, sound interresting, might have seen some under some crazy French translation of the title!

Future-movies

I agree about ON THE BEACH (BOOK TOO); PLANET OF THE APES; AND THE DAY AFTER.

And i also loved SOYLENT GREEN which i saw as a grown-up and found it an astounding cautionary tale and prohpetic allegory.

I don't know if it's available in English but Malevil from the Robert Merle novel is a great film. The contrast betwin before and after is amazing. It start in a farm with a green grass and trees everywhere, then ashes and dirt.I think they burn the all surronding with flame-thrower for the movie.
The casting is also great. If you can find it you won't regret it.

Did nobody say MAD MAX???? I saw trailers for a interesting looking one on youtube called THE HAPPENING with mark wahlberg. But its directed by m night shyamalan and those movies the village and signs i hated...so i lost all hope for it.

Will The Earth Survive?

When I am reading something I know nothing about I search for information.
I found the following on QUAIETEARTH.US

Dawn of the dead (1978)

I have to give this a 10, this movie must of had a budget because you see it in the sets, and the fact that they used a alot of extras. This movie is a PA fantasy and just builds from the beginning. Get the uncut version. Highly reccomended.

I am Legend
"Robert Neville (Will Smith) is a brilliant scientist, but even he could not contain the terrible virus that was unstoppable, incurable, and man-made. Somehow immune, Neville is now the last human survivor in what is left of New York City and maybe the world. For three years, Neville has faithfully sent out daily radio messages, desperate to find any other survivors who might be out there. But he is not alone. Mutant victims of the plague—The Infected—lurk in the shadows…watching Neville’s every move…waiting for him to make a fatal mistake. Perhaps mankind’s last, best hope, Neville is driven by only one remaining mission: to find a way to reverse the effects of the virus using his own immune blood. But he knows he is outnumbered…and quickly running out of time."

Laughing Dead
A seeming drug addict wakes up in a post-nuclear war future. He stumbles around trying to figure out what happened. All survivors sit in their homes watching television and using drugs while mutant zombies, government clean-up officials, and giant pigs roam the streets.

Logan's Run
Got that 70's look and feel like Buck Rogers. People live in a domed controlled society where euthanasia is mandatory at the age of 30 and have no idea what is outside their little world. [I THINK I SAW THIS ONE]

Waterworld

The whole world is covered by water and the few poeple that are left are living on makeshift islands of garbage.

Well enough of this for me at the moment. You can find a zillion hits if you put POSTAPOCALYPTIC MOVIES in your search engine or GOOGLE.
