no no of course i know that i just couldn't remeber if 1600 was the right number or if it 1700 or something. of course i know it is about the white house. i'm not that pretty. ;)

i also really liked unfaithful. it was an interesting look at infidelity.

Me! (iconic John Wayne scene: when he beats Maureen O'Hara with a stick in The Quiet Man, to the cheers of the entire town). What a major asshole.

Lucky you. I just don't get why he is held up as this big American icon. He was an insecure buffoon who hid his homosexuality behind a facade of cardboard bravado and bad acting.
 
Are you a barrel-chested draft-dodging fascist too? Did you tell a whole generation it was their duty to go to Vietnam after you got a couple of crooked deferments in WWII?

I'm allowed to hate John Wayne. He had no redeeming qualities.
 
But, okay, I have to balance my aura, so I will say a positive thing.

Jack Nicholson is great in Five Easy Pieces. That's a heck of a movie. The first time I saw it I went out and bought Chopin's Preludes and played that piece for weeks.

Natalie Portman

As for actors I hate:

Keira Knightley
Cameron Diaz
 
Maggie Smith, in anything but particularly Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, Momento Mori and Death on the Nile. A marvellous actress.

I don't know much about Glen Close but as for singing I heard a recording by her recently of "Send in the Clowns". Very, very good.

Kenneth Branagh, in Henry V and A Month in the Country, in particular. Sean Connery, the best Bond easily, Ian MacLellan and Ian Richardson I would agree with too, along with Charles Dance.

Graham Kennedy for any Aussies out there. Clint Eastwood. And John Wayne too. I like John Wayne. Walter Matthau and Jack Lemon together were brilliant.

Isabell, have you seen American History X ? There is a scene in there that every time it comes to mind I cringe. (the sidewalk scene...)
