    E.M. Benjamin: Takedown

Has anyone read this book, and if so do you like it? I wrestle in high school currently, and wanted to get my hands on some literature that has to do with wrestling. Vision Quest would probably be the most obvious one, but I've already seen the movie.

    Fyodor Dostoevsky

Well, since I'm starting to like Dostoevsky so much, I figured I'll read all of his books that are currently in my library. I'm saving The Brothers Kazamarov for last, though. So far, Poor People was pretty good, but I didn't like The Gambler that much. Poor People has similar themes as C&P does.

    Gary Paulsen

Oh, there's a whole series that follows after "The Hatchet". There's The River, Brian's Winter, Brian's Hunt, maybe others. I haven't read any of them, though. Figured they would basically be about the same concept as The Hatchet.

    Philosophy books

I would recommend Machiavelli's The Prince. I haven't read it yet, but it doesn't introduce very abstract concepts like Nietzsche's books, and I think is interesting.

What books did u score for Xmas then?

I didn't get anything but I got my sister Fathers and Sons by Turgenev The Scarlet Letter by Hawthorne 1984 by Orwell (the book is published in the year 1984, so it's a special edition, the paper looks old and yellow, but that's what I love about it) A book that combines Dracula...

    Favorite Future Utopia Work

Brave New World I thought was a little more realistic than 1984, and was more based on a perfect world through science. But I'm surprised noone has mentioned Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess yet. I thought that book was pretty nice. And as far as the book "We" goes, I heard that it is kind of...

    Fyodor Dostoevsky

I just finished reading Notes From the Underground as well as Crime and Punishment. I really liked both of them. I want to ask everyone sincerely, what books did you enjoy most by him besides the well-known, like Crime and Punishment and The Brothers Kazamarov. The reason I'm asking is, I'm not...

    Politics Primer

How about Jon Stewart's A Citizen's Guide to Democracy Inaction. If you watch the Daily Show on Comedy Central you might like this book. It pokes fun at democracy as it is today meanwhile explaining how it works very well.

    Let me introduce myself...

No, I don't think I've ever heard of it, neither can I find anything by him on the web. Can you give me a link or tell me what kind of books he writes. The russian authors I'm interested in right now are Dostoevsky, Turgenev and Bulgakov. I'm not sure if I should pick up Tolstoy since I fear I...

    Fyodor Dostoevsky: Crime And Punishment

It's definetly a psychological view into the human subconsiousness. It all depends if you enjoy these types of analyses. Has a lot of themes, one of them is Uber Mensch, other is redemption through suffering. Raskolnikov basically wants to be extraordinary, and thinks that by killing and having...

    Let me introduce myself...

I hear what you're saying, nighthawk. TV, other people's conversations, all seem alien to me sometimes, like it's something I could never understand. I could act like I do, but never really achieve it. Maybe I should reexplain what books I like, which are books with emotion, any kind of emotion...

    I just finished reading...

Just got done with Crime and Punishment by Dostoevsky. I don't see why people would not like this book. Probably my favorite book, a great read. I love books with emotion. I could relate them to my life so much, it's unbelievable. For some reason it reminds me of the Jungle by Upton Sinclair...

    Let me introduce myself...

Yes, I've read 1984 as well as Animal Farm. I didn't want to point it out because I think it is a little too popular. The only book I haven't read in the "dystopia" genre is Fahrenheit 451 because it seems a little too simple.

    Gary Paulsen

When I was young, like 11 or 12, I really liked reading his books. I read and loved "Hatchet" and "Brian's Song", I think. I also started reading "Car Ride". I also remember reading this strange book, I remember that it was from him but I forgot the title. It was more science fiction, and was...

    Let me introduce myself...

I live in New Jersey but come from Bulgaria. I loved reading all my life, although I have just rekindled my passion for books again. As much as I love reading, I don't really have too many friends that enjoy reading and have noone to discuss my books with. The genres I like are usually based on...
