    Annotated Bibles

About five years ago, I purchased the NASB MacArthur study Bible as recommended by a friend. I found the book in a religious bookstore in Estes Park and decided to shell out the $60.00 to see what it was about. This study bible is thick with references, a concordance, more maps of the ancient...

    Excellent articles as of late

I believe it is more than defensible. The book is consistently rated a top 100 read by modern library and others. The subject of the book is controversial, but most of your great books are. To Kill a Mockingbird has a section on rape, some books deal with gay characters, others deal with war...

    Interesting Religious Stuff

It is refreshing to see religious leaders who live more like a sanyasi than an aristocrat. Buddhist leaders like Thich Nhat Hanh come to mind for me when I think of those who live humbly despite their prominent position. Hopefully, the Pope inspires some good changes through the example of his...

    Arthur Miller

The Death of a Salesman is a true classic, the societal commentary of the work is truly profound and presented in a clear, though indirect way. Just finished The Price, a work similar to Salesman in regards to family conflict and roles in society, though more of a focus on family dynamics...

    Books on bikes program

Read about it, what an innovative idea! Not sure if it's the best way to catch the 20+ demographic, but perhaps they are out and about playing frisbee-golf and power walking to starbucks.

    Aristophanes; Lysistrata

I really like this one. The humor is definitely the best part. Will leave out specifics as I wouldn't want to shock the sensibility and prudishness of sparkchaser. :devillook

Loud Evolution - An Action Novel

My 9 year old just LOVES minecraft. For being a simple program, there are a lot of neat things a kid can do with that program. You definitely have a great idea to go along with the promotion of your book!

Excellent post Peder, I didn't know of the last item, though it doesn't surprise me after having read earlier things about the Pope like this.

Have you read any of these?

The Caro book is simply outstanding. I read the series out of order, starting with Means of Ascent. The man was definitely driven and I got a kick out of the stories that document how from a very early, early, early age, that he was super competitive and strove to be better than everyone else...

August 2013: Jane Austen, Pride & Prejudice

Yep, variation of the saying. Trust me, I'm hardly original in coming up with sayings, though I will gladly take credit for it. :) Virginia Woolf being taught to 16 year old boys.......would have to take an amazing teacher.

    Two kinds of morality

True, you would have to possess one for them to know you. :p What I find fascinating is people who attempt to merge the two belief systems. Emmanuel Mournier comes to mind most prominently for me. I could see some strands that are similar in the New Testament, but earlier than that, it's a...

Anyone else get motion sick when reading in car?

Only if I keep a charger plugged into the lighter. My phone drains down in 15 minutes if I attempt to access the internet(not really, but it feels like it) My insurance will cover the damage from striking into cattle. Perhaps I could lawyer up and file damages for "emotional pain" and...

August 2013: Jane Austen, Pride & Prejudice

Oh I would agree about that, the maxim about education being wasted on the young rings true here. It's not until you are a tad bit older that you can truly appreciate a book like this.
