    Harry Potter VI

But just maybe that was exactly what JKR had in mind when creating Tonks. That readers would be sure she must be a spy - so she can shock us with Tonks being one of the good guys! Hmm... I WANT BOOK VI NOW!!!!

    Eragon

Hmm, maybe I should give it another try, then. If it does get better... the books also get thicker, right? I believe I've seen "The slippery slope" in a book shop and it was at least twice as big as the first volume.

i want to speed my reading

Depeding on the length, writing style, difficulty, plot, etc. etc. my reading speed varies a bit. But I'm a pretty swift reader! In German (my first language) I can read a 400 pages book in a few hours (say 5 to 6 hours), in English I'm a little slower, of course. Also it takes me longer to...

    Harry Potter VI

Okay, so good point about Tonks. Still... I don't believe Voldemort is going to survive! I mean, it isn't said that Harry is going to be a murderer. I'm sure Voldemort can be defeated (or destroyed) in some way other than just plainly killing him! Maybe he will die from Harry's not chosing to...

    Eragon

I found the first book of the Series of Unfortunate Events quite awful... this is REALLY a children's story.

    Tad Williams

I haven't read MST yet, either. But the Otherland books (at least the first two) are amazing, so far. The story starts a little slowly but quickly picks up pace and then you can't put them down anymore! But it's really not very traditional fantasy, much more sci-fi. But the characters are...

    A cliched genre? Discuss

Reading fantasy is a quest for itself. I've been reading ever since I was three but discovered the fantasy genre only when I was 12. But then I read fantasy, exclusively. And only one type of fantasy. You know, the boy/girl from our world suddenly finds him/herself in a magnificent fantasy...

    Harry Potter VI

@Beatrycze: Harry won't die!!! Please, even if JK says it 100 times, don't believe that Harry will die. No matter how cruel the books are getting, it's still a children's story and in these, main characters (well, THE main character) don't die! And Dumbledore has to live at least until book 7...

    Eragon

Of course the book did well - it's after all like another, a little changed JKR story. Poor guy who's been home-schooled (which isn't a bad thing, of course) and had to print his first story himself suddenly gets rich because the book is just SO great that EVERYBODY has to have it, even if it's...

    Currently Reading

Just finished Otherland: city of golden shadow and loved it so much I jumped right into Otherland: river of blue fire which I'm loving even more, up to now. Tad Williams is a genius!!!

    Have you met any authors?

I've only met a German author - Wolfgang Hohlbein - and his wife, but I've had e-mail contact with several others, including Christopher Moore (who is charming even to his annoying fans :p ) and Ralf Isau - yet another German guy. You know... I think it's so sad that some of the really great...

    Harry Potter VI

Have you guys been to Jo Rowling's page, lately? Because she said that she's going to kill more characters (wheter just one or more, she didn't say) and I'm devastated. Well, I guess a knew someone would have to die, this hit me. I hope it's not somebody I like too much - like last time :(...

The most shocking but believable theory

I totally agree! But that theory... I refuse to believe any bit of it. It's very easy to read something into things if you want to. Why not try and look at every single quidditch match a little more closely - I'm sure we can find at least some more deaths, intrigues or whatever. :p I think...

    Love

You don't. Honestly, if you ever really love someone, you're never going to be able not to love them anymore! I guess, the only thing that could happen is that love changes into hate. Then again, love and hate aren't so different at all.

    Suggestions: December 2004

Lamb by Christopher Moore - it's not really about Christmas, but about Jesus and he's what Christmas should actually be about, right? ;) And even if it pisses Martin off - I really think that Charles Dickens' Christmas Carol is one of the best "Christmas books" ever! So why not put it on...

How much books do you read per year?

Exactly! I never even noticed that I'm a fast reader until we started reading books for school and I was usually finished before the others even reached the middle :p . Well, I consider myself lucky, because the faster I read, the more books I can read in my life! :D

    Reading in October

Chris Moore is one of my all time favourites! Enjoy Josh and Biff's adventures... God, I have to re-read that book :D .

    Stupidest Romance Plot Ever

Jesus! You know, I'd be tempted to actually read this crap just to have a new worst-book-I-ever-read :p . No, honestly I don't read much romance at all, but this would really be the last thing I'd read.

How much books do you read per year?

I think things like speed reading don't really work. I mean, I've never tried it myself so I don't want to judge, but usually I get the feeling if I TRY to read more quickly, I miss things. The only way to read more quickly is to read :p . That's what wisdom I have learned during...

    Your very own bookstore!

What a wonderful idea! If I'd open a book shop it would be a shop where people can get books in many languages. At least German, English, French, Spanish and Russian (which are, except for Russian, the languages I speak and read) and I'd probably call it something old-fashioned like "The...
