    Learning German

I'll look for it! I am going this summer for two and a half months, and my parents won't accompany me this time, as I am now old enough to trust. Without them there to translate, I may learn a lot. I'll see about FEAR STREET. If I am really desperate, I can get some family to send me...

    Learning German

Oddly enough, my house contains no children books in German. I only have what my parent have read, Faust, Der Herr der Ringe, Lolita, and many more.

    Learning German

Thanks for the excellent advice Stewart! 5 verbs and adjectives a day wouldn't be too hard to remember. I haven't been much of a diary guy, but if it will better my German, I shall give it a try.

I really need vocabulary... Here are some things I can think of doing: >Get parents to speak to me in German only >Get parents to recite phrases to me, like tapes >Translate German books >Travel all by myself to Germany to live with family who don't speak any English for two and a half...

    Learning German

My family and I are from Germany, but my parents moved when I was only three, obviously leaving me without the ability to speak German. The recent death of my Grandfather makes me sad, but not as sad as my parents who are still crying over the news. My grandfather and I never had a chance to...

Your favourite bookshop / place to buy books

The best place is Amazon.com because the books are usually 30%+ cheaper than my local stores. I greatly appreciate the price reductions, as I only buy hardcovers, saving me loads of money. Always, I will spend over twenty-five dollars, so I get free shipping as well. Some may not like to wait...

    Your most Treasured Book

This may seem strange... Ever since I was fourteen, I have taken an interest in Nationlism/Fascism. Naturally, Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy became focal points.. My book collection contains about 15 copies of the early editions of Mein Kampf in English and auf Deutsch. I have read Mein...

    What country are you?

You're Iceland! Most people think you're a cold and forbidding person, but you're actually naturally warm and inviting. People just get scared off by what other people have led them to believe about you. You keep to yourself for the most part, and are pretty good at fending for yourself...

    What book are you?

You're 1984! by George Orwell You have this uncanny feeling that you're always being watched. Thus life has become a bit of a show as you try to portray yourself as much more reputable than you actually are. All around you, people seem to accept an unending stream of lies and propaganda...

Suggestions for a 9 year old

Try the Goosebumps series of books by R.L. Stine... The books were popular when I was around that age, and contain no gore, sex, etc. Usually around 100-150 pages each, they are quick and rather easy to read, even at very young ages. Just be certain not to expect much out of them, because the...

    Hail Bathory!

Bathory is one of my favorite bands... I consider everything up to Twilight of the Gods as essential to any listener of the genre. I have always found the Countess interesting as well.

    Hail Bathory!

There seems to be a direct correlation between how much one has read and the amount of screws lost. And I still have enough to hold this contraption of mine together. Bye... for now.

    Hail Bathory!

I have arrived to bless you all with my presence! ...or something. Hm, let me tell you a story. Today, I said to my self, "Self, am I the only one who reads?" I replied, "Of course not!" As I look around I spot someone, "Ah, you see?" "Look closer... it reads the Da Vinci Code," replied...
