Old story / character - new life

I seem to be seeing a “trend” (maybe) where authors are picking up characters from other books and writing about them or using other books to build upon or base a story upon. Does one need to read the original in order to appreciate the new novel? Books like: Moby Dick --> Ahab’s Wife...

    Pulitzer Winners for Fiction 2007

First Oprah, now this - woo this dude's on a roll.... Someone, who's opinion I respect, said she loved The Road, but it was very "disturbing" and might give me nightmares, which I tend to have for anything these days (ah, the pleasures of turning 40 and being neurotic) -- so I haven't picked...

You can then cross reference those authors (from Wiki) to users on LibraryThing who have books by them. For example, I took a quick look and saw that a user named claudiadias is from Lisbon and has in her library books by Branco and Antunes (and probably others) - you could send her a message...

South Park mocks Steve Irwin death

Have you seen other South Park episodes? They mock so many different things - religion, other people. I am surprised that this is where you chose to draw the line. Is Steve Irwin more important than Jesus, for example? Or Christmas? Or Jews? Perhaps, for you, he is. I just think we need...

Stewart, Have you taken a look at The Book Thief (Markus Zusak- sp.) - it is just lovely and considered YA. (By the way, Stewart, perhaps you shouldn't be taking advice from me - I tried to read Eco and couldn't get past the first 10 pages - I am "literature challenged". :o )

I would also recommend ebay as it is a better idea of what people will actually pay for an item vs. what an item is being sold for.
