You named quite a few that I want to see (Hellboy, Lady Killers, Alien vs Predator & Shrek2) and others that I was unaware of.
Another I saw something on today but am not sure if it's due out this year is Van Hellsing (at least I think that's what it's called). It looked like it was worth checking out.

Shrek 2 - ooh yes, and also Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (love the song Mr Blueskies on the soundtrack).

I am a fan of Zombie flicks, so Dawn of the Dead this week and Shaun of the Dead should be good (two of my workmates appeared as extras in Shaun otD, so need to spot them being killed).

Otherwise the film I am really looking forward to is Jeux d'enfants (mentioned in another thread), and the DVD release of Pas Sur La Bouche.

Probably go and see The Passion of 'the' Christ too sometime soon. Avoiding all topics on that just now, as I prefer to see things before reading threads on them.

loved Amelie sooo much, French films in general lately, and shall watch it again tomorrow. Bought Delicatessen and City of Lost Children yesterday, on the back of getting to go see the advance screening of Pas Sur La Bouche on Thursday night (marvellous film) as part of the Renault French Film Season. They showed the clip for Jeux d'enfants and I nearly wet myself.

The books are better than the movies, but the third book was my favorite, so I'm really looking forward to this movie.

There's only one French film that truely took my breath away, namely this one: Irreversible.

Irreversible is an excellent piece of film-making. The French seem to handle cinema excellently. Bellucci and Cassel, in Irreversible have done another couple of films between them: Le Pacte des Loups, and L'Appartement. For the all time classic French film, Jean de Florette with its second part, Manons des Source. From Amelie, as mentioned, there's the previous films by Jeunet: Delicatessen and The City of Lost Children.

If you mean 'took your breath away' as in shocked you then you might want to look up Pasolini's Salo - it was banned for about 25 years due to the sheer number of explcit scenes of sex, torture, and mealtimes.

Even the Belgian's have made at least one good film in Man Bites Dog. The only Dutch film I can recall seeing is Spoorloos; which was remade as The Vanishing with Kiefer Sutherland, Jeff Bridges, and Sandra Bullock. The original is still the best.

Germany: Run Lola, Run, Anatomy, and The Princess and the Warrior are worth a watch. I just bought Goodbye Lenin this weekend and I'm looking forward to watching that.

Spanish films, there's those of Julio Medem: Vacas and The Lovers of the Arctic Circle being a couple of examples.

Other excellent films come from Denmark, notable those made under the stipulations of the Dogme Manifesto. Particular favourites include The Idiots, and Italian for Beginners. I'd quite like to see Dogville, with Nicole Kidman, by the Danish director Lars von Trier.

There are literally hundreds more films from around the world worth seeing. The one, however, that I want to see this year is probably Battle Royale II which hits British cinemas in May.

I found Battle Royale to be a little disappointing, although I shall still go and see the second. Give me Lord of the Flies anytime

I loveda Amelie soooo much too!!!! I was already a fan because of City of Lost Children and Delicatessen. Glad to hear he has a new film!!! I will be watching out for it with much anticipation!

As for the rest of the thread

Hellboy.... MMMM I just don't know. I can't decide. I watched both trailers and mmmmmm I'm not sure about it.

king Arthur: How can you beat Excalibur?

Troy: Looks stupid lol

The day after: Is by the same people that made Godzilla and Independance day. I will avoid it.

I'm looking forward to Resident Evil 2. I know the first one got REALLY slagged but I actually loved it! Now I am really looking forward the second one. OH, and the new Punisher movie sounds like it maybe really good.

Van Helsing looks pretty good, so do all the other big Summer movies too - you forgot Spiderman 2 though!!

Shrek 2 im looking forward too, really enjoyed the first one.

Martin, I agree that King Arthur has the potential to be just bad, but I want to see it anyway.

Ditto for Troy. So much will depend on the quality of the special effects.

Walking Tall was not very good, as expected. No plot, just scenes of people getting beat up and shot at. But the Rock is not actually that awful an actor.

OMG I'm so excited about the movie! If it hadn't been for this pic ^^^ I wouldn't have had it in me to check the site! I was thinking that since it was coming out in June, it'll still be a long wait before a nice new site comes along.

I do think we have a few more movies than that one that could appeal to foreigners though.

I read Tim Krabbes novel, and after watching The Vanishing (which was a ba-ha-had movie), I went right off Het Gouden Ei adaptations, so I never did get to see Spoorloos.

About Irreversible. I knew what was coming, because I'd read all about it on the internet and in Empire Magazine, but . . . Damn! So real, so utterly real! My gut physically wrenched. Amazing cinema. As you can see, I have no idea how to describe this film, and my feelings about it.

I have to admit, I kinda liked Resident Evil to. Maybe it's because I spent entire nights scaring myself half to death playing the game.

The teaser looks amazing, so I'm definitely going to watch this!
