Iron Maiden

A friend just got me into this, and I'm loving it. I have the CD's Powerslave and A Matter of Life and Death, and I plan on getting Brave New World next.

Anyone else like Iron Maiden? Any suggestions for me?

Those are OK albums, but what you really want is The Number Of The Beast. One of the best metal albums of its time.

That was one I'm planning on looking at...which should be fine, just as long as my mother never knows I listened to it. She'd take one look at the name and shriek.

Heh, just play her the last song, "Hallowed Be Thy Name". It can be interpreted anyway you want...

I'm waiting in my cold cell when the bell begins to chime
Reflecting on my past life and it doesn't have much time
Cos at 5 o'clock they take me to the Gallows Pole
The sands of time for me are running low

When the priest comes to read me the last rites
I take a look through the bars at the last sights
Of a world that has gone very wrong for me

Can it be there's some sort of error
Hard to stop the surmounting terror
Is it really the end not some crazy dream

Somebody please tell me that I'm dreaming
It's not so easy to stop from screaming
But words escape me when I try to speak
Tears they flow but why am I crying
After all I am not afraid of dying
Don't believe that there is never an end

As the guards march me out to the courtyard
Someone calls from a cell "God be with you"
If there's a God then why has he let me die?

As I walk all my life drifts before me
And though the end is near I'm not sorry
Catch my soul cos it's willing to fly away

Mark my words please believe my soul lives on
Please don't worry now that I have gone
I've gone beyond to see the truth

When you know that your time is close at hand
maybe then you'll begin to understand
Life down there is just a strange illusion

Yeah, hallowed be Thy name
Yeah, hallowed be Thy name...

Hallowed Be Thy Name is there signature live tune, I think they play it at every concert. The play it a lot faster live than the recorded version. I just bought the dvd of Death on the Road and it's great. I would recommend the following discs:

Iron Maiden
The Number of the Beast
Piece of Mind
Powerslave
Live After Death
Somewhere in Time
Dance of Death
Death on the Road

Ah, Iron Maiden's quite good. They're one of the few metal bands I enjoy listening to. I should look into purchasing a few of their albums some day...

That's from the Death on the Road dvd, it's great. They are supposed to release The Early Years Vol. 2 later this year, which will contain the Live After Death concert, from the 84-85 tour, in its entirety. I'm really looking forward to that one!
