Now you must be wondering why a detective novel with a wizard investigator is doing in the mystery section. Well,each book leans on one side or the other:Fantasy or mystery. This one leaned towards mystery a little more than fantasy.

Harry Dresden is having a pretty good business for a change. Until the Shroud that was used to wrap Christ in is reported missing. While chasing down the Shroud,a third party intervenes and decides to give Dresden more than he has ever bargained for. While this is happening, Dresden is challenged to a duel by one of the generals of the Red Court of vampires. As if is not uneventful already for our poor little Harry.

My opinion: This book is my least favorite of The Dresden Files. There is a little too much romance. The thing that really shines about this book is Nicodemus. He is an awesome villain,and my favorite villain of this series. Of course, Dresden is cool to.

My rating::star3:

Are these books like the Repairman Jack stories? Although I usually do not read many occult type novels I did enjoy those, and perhaps these dresden ones also if they are similar.

Well Falcon,so far from what I have seen of people who have read this series,they love Dresden,and say he will not ever disappoint you.Though,I have not even read the first one yet(Read some of the 3rd as a temporary read),but hopefully it will soon come in the Library.

Butcher I did see these books at used bookstore a while ago and if I run across them next time will definitely pick them up. There are series of books I think you might enjoy in this line by Colin Cotterill. They are about coroner in Laos who is inhabited by spirit of dead Hmong shaman and who can talk to spirits of dead people he works on as coroner. They are my favorite mysteries and partly because I live in SE Asia but people I recommend them to in US and have read them also love them. In addition to being exciting and suspenseful mysteries, they are very very funny.
