The X-Files II

I've always liked Xzibit and Amanda Peet - so I was happy that they were in it. But yeah, there didn't seem to be much to their characters.
I, too, was disappointed that Doggett and Reyes weren't included - it would've been awesome to see them.

The reviews aren't so great :( ...
According to wikipedia: It opened fourth on the U.S. weekend box office chart, with a gross of $10.2 million.

And Chris Carter: that if I Want to Believe proves successful, he would propose that a third movie go back to the TV-series' mythology and focus on the alien invasion foretold within the series, due to occur on December 22, 2012.

That's sad. It just goes to show that most of the moviegoing public lacks good taste. Here's hoping the DVD makes tons of money . . .

Sounds like a publicity stunt for the new season of Californication
Heh. But that kind of publicity would be humiliating for Leoni, his wife, and their kids. It makes it seem as though he's had affairs or is addicted to pornography (like Mulder :p). Most of the articles I saw were about how it's a sad case of "life imitating art."

His character on Californication is a sex addict too, right?

Yeah. My friends and I were talking last night about how it's life imitating art in more than one way.

Makes me sad. What do you think it is? Women or pornography or both or other?

Hmm... interesting.
We got a Blu-Ray player over the summer, and I've been really apprehensive about buying BDs. I think about the great HD quality... but then I think about how when I go to my mother's, I can't watch a BD there since she doesn't have a player, etc.
The extras for the X-Files BD Live thing is also pretty neat, but I honestly don't see myself doing any of those things.

What do y'all think? Should I get the DVD or the Blu-ray?

Thanks for the info Anamnesis! I'll put it on my X-Mas wishlist. ;)

Yeah, I'm not sure how often I'd use those case file games myself. On the other hand . . . if you have a Blu-Ray player, you may as well start adding to the collection. They're also reissuing the first X-Files film on Blu-Ray. The bonus features for that include a gag reel, a new commentary, and alternate takes.

Damn it... I know I'll want that...
I really hate replacing things...

Yeah, I suppose I'll get the new X-Files for Blu-Ray...

Yay, I finally got to watch it on Blu-Ray. I saw it with the picture in picture commentary with Chris Carter & Frank Spotnitz (sp?). It was pretty cool, I like the idea of picture in picture commentary... what frustrates me the most about commentaries in general is that sometimes I can't figure out who's talking. So this was cool. But I felt it would've been cooler if it was a commentary by David & Gillian. Carter mostly talked about the directing which wasn't incredibly interesting. But what was cool were all the little things he pointed out like the actors who were in the series making appearances in the film... and also people like the make-up artists and other various crew members and fans making appearances.

I enjoyed the gag-reel - always fun stuff.

I like Xzibit, and I like his music... but the music video was lame. Just still after still of the movie. Disappointing.

That's all that I checked out.

Oh! Did any of y'all stay after the credits (or watch after the credits)? I missed that the first two times I was in the theatre... so it was cool to see that as well.

One of my favorite trivial things about the movie is that the actress who played Mulder's missing little sister played an FBI agent who passes Mulder in the hallway in the film.

Heh, the Xzibit "video" is easily one of the most pointless bonus features on a DVD. The song isn't even used in the movie so I don't understand its inclusion.

I watched the end credits a few times, yes. Mostly for the way they were assembled but also because I enjoyed the surprise at the very end.
