I have now grown up!
And it didn't turn out as expected, except in the very broadest of generality. But it has been fun (mostly), and I wouldn't change anything (mostly).
Answer: Started as an engineer, ended as an engineer.

Hi,
I wanted to be an architect by I end up being an engineer. Didn't regret it, engineering is so much fun!

I like this post, 80 years now and still don't know!
I was being flippant when I posted this - I wanted to be a nurse but as there was not much financial assistance at the tme in our family I went to work in a bank instead, continued in a bank when I came to Canada, then branched out and worked as a legal secretary for over 20 years. Not too unhappy with the way things turned out, have a family, really smart grandchildren now all grown up and finishing university and I spend lots of time reading.:)

58 and still trying to figure it out! Honestly, I think what fits best is Lifelong Learner. I can do that anywhere, for a reasonable fee..some lessons are pricier than others, of course.

I always wanted to be a soldier when I grew up...which I did for awhile....
Went to some schools while in the Army...Airborne , Ranger , Air Assault ....did four combat tours...and got to see some of the world...
I enjoyed my time in the Army ( mostly ) and did the best I could wherever I was stationed.
Now I am a Behavior Specialist at a elementary school....And enjoy that job / role as well.
Andy
