My birthday, coz all the presents are for me and I don't have to share the day with people, or suffer annoying relatives. I get to be spoilt and bratty and eat lots of cake and make random rules for people to obey. Plus because my family is spread out I always get several days worth of birthday and a steady trickle of presents. Yay for my birthday. It's not till October but my boyfriend made me start on my birthday list last week. :D

Where's the option for the day when the playoffs start for baseball....or opening day of the season!! Now there's a holiday! :)

Ditto everything Litany said except my boyfriend hasn't me to start a list yet :/ I also like my birthday best because its one big drunken festival, rather than christmas where you always get some boring tee-total anti-fun fool. And christmas is rubbish because you have to go christmas shopping. Damn I forgot the other options... Easter is poo because I never get any hols for Easter... Halloween - does anyone actually celebrate that properly outside America? We never do :(

Christmas, because (A) I'm a Christian, (B) it's a time when all the family comes together and the source of many happy memories, (C) you don't feel guilty because you're the only one getting presents and (D) it's in winter, and winter is the best of seasons.

The only good point about halloween is chalking "It is not UK policy to negotiate with terrorists" on the drive to deter trick-or-treaters."

Christmas, because a) I'm not a Christian, b) I love to eat, c) I hate winter, and d) I love to eat.

New Years is fun, too.

I absolutely detest my birthday.

Cheers, Martin

I don't really care for "events". Too much pressure with "having" to visit certain people, and "having" to listen to people you only hear from once a year telling you to "have" a happy birthday. It's frustrating.

I actually choose Christmas Eve. We always get together with my best friend's family for dinner and then we all head out to church together. Afterwards, just the fam hangs out while we drink hot chocolate.

My birthday is always overshadowed by Christmas (its the 21st of December) and it is usually combined with my dad's birthday (his is the 23rd of December). I've not even gotten the chance to celebrate my birthday in the past three years, as we've always been busy.

Ah, you poor thing - well, a heartfelt happy birthday from me, Chewie! (Bit late, or early, I know.)

Cheers, Martin

I'm with lies on this one; I can't be bothered with all the hypocrisy and commercialism which surrounds "the season of [supposed] goodwill". While I like to see people enjoying themselves, and it's always nice to spend time relaxing with friends and family, I much prefer to pack my bags and escape from it all. Whatever floats your boat.

I guess I'm lucky that no one in the family "pressures" us to visit with them. Both sets of parents (mine and my husband's) were pressured to visit family at Christmas and they refuse to do that to us. We always visit in the weekends surrounding Christmas and celebrate with time together, good food, and lots of laughter. Its always a joyous season for our family. I love to buy presents for others, and I love spending time with everyone, and the music and atmosphere are just so magical around here. I guess it depends upon how one celebrates as to how affected they are by the commercialism (I also don't watch tv and such, so the commercial aspect of Christmas isn't shoved in my face).
