My Operation:The Sleeve Gastrectomy

This week I shall FINALLY know if this thing will become reality. My surgeon told me that approval by insurance might be set soon.

Just read this now, and best of luck on everything.

Surgery is scary. I always thought of modern medicine as a quick painless fix, but after reading Patrimony by Philip Roth where he describes his father's brain tumor and the possible surgeries; and having four wisdom teeth extracted under local anesthetic; and having my wife get two c-sections; I no longer think of it as simple - not at all.

And about weight, I'm with you on that. I've always been naturally thin, but recently I've been getting a donut around the waist, and it's not easy to get off. Not easy at all. I don't know what I'd do if I were naturally a gainer or heavy set. I'm a guy that was 6'2" and 135lbs in high school  .

Carlos (aka Aquablue), Do You Accept This...

...insurance (my insurance) to fund your WLS (weight loss surgery)? YES I DO! Well now I pronounce you accepted for surgery by your insurance!

Hee haw!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been ACCEPTED by my insurance for bypass surgery. AWESOME!!

Now on the 30th I get the date!

Good luck with your surgery - I am glad they did the tests to ensure you stay as safe as possible, but I know you are ready for it, as well. No matter the reason for the extra weight- I hope you lose it quickly and healthily. Best of lu0-cuuuy (that was from my kitten) luck to you!

On the 15 of this month (11/2007), I will have the Upper GI Endoscopy proceedure done. A camera will be inserted down my upper GI track and my stomach and the first part of the small intestine. This will be the next to last medical check prior to the operation (I hope). That's my news.

A week to go. How long do you anticipate being in the hospital? Will you be able to get on the net while there and keep us posted as to how it went and how you are doing? Best wishes for a smooth operation and speedy recovery.
