Re: the Miike discussion above, I watched Sukiyaki Western Django a while back. Weird, weird movie. It's a samurai western (but of course it is) with Japanese actors speaking English and a plot that's the standard man-with-no-name ("Don't come here and try to play Yojimbo!") filtered through 70 years of back-and-forth de- and reconstructions of the genre by American, Japanese, and Italian directors. Almost every line is a cool Eastwood or Wayne one-liner, Quentin Tarantino plays the old wise sensei to the hot-headed young Japanese gunslingers (that's not a metaphor; it's actually got Quentin Tarantino in old-man makeup) and I'm never sure if this is a movie or a movie about movies. Very entertaining, though, and obviously very very violent. :star3:

I last saw Imprint. It was very kinda supernatrual felt like I was watching an M Night movie, like the 6th sense or something lol. I bought it because it is native american and I am native american. Ok well okie dokie for now.

Sukiyaki Western Django

I've been trying to watch this lately, but they took it off the Instant Play on Netflix. My bf has been wanting to see this for a long time now, he always picks it up whenever we go to Best Buy. Maybe I'll just buy it for him. It sounds interesting and I've been watching a lot of Japanese stuff lately.

Netflix

I always thought about having netflex. I see the commercials and all but someone told me it doesn't stay at that price on tv for long.

I would recommend it. Just the amount that they have available streaming is amazing. So you don't even have to wait for them to send you the next movie. We just hook up my laptop to the tv and we can watch a bunch of movies online (commercial free of course).

Well heck yeah that would be nice commercial free lol. Another friend of ours recommeneded blockbuster. I didn't know they had a service similar to netfles these days. Ty for the info Libra. My bff is a libra lol.

Must see movie for everyone who likes the TV series the office : In the Loop (2009) Never heard so much creative strong language in my life , anywhere ! So dont go if your toes are sore or your shins are vulnerable , great actors (see link) found the actor playing the fulminating scotsman Malcom Tucker (Peter Capaldi)totally awesome . Does not happen a lot , laughing out loud watching a movie . Aside from the fact its also a serious anti political establishment statement .

Speaking of westerns, I just saw Straight To Hell (1987). That's an... interesting movie. A classic spaghetti-style western set in the 1980s, starring Sy Richardson, Joe Strummer and a young (and very annoying) Courtney Love, featuring The Pogues, Elvis Costello, Dennis Hopper and Jim Jarmusch in supporting roles, and directed by Alex Cox of Repo Man fame. Everyone including the script writer is obviously drunk, and I'm not entirely sure if they know whether they're making a straight Western or a parody of one, but lots of fun nevertheless. I mean, you know you want to see Shane MacGowan as a caffeine-addicted gunslinger dressed like Steve Martin in Three Amigos.

I just saw Shooter with Mark Wahlberg over the weekend and all I can say is that a blind man should have seen it coming. :star2:
