^I've heard it, I like it. Richard Hell and Tom Verlaine together makes my heart go flippity flappity, but with Richard leaving Television, the "To hold the tv to my lips, the air so packed with cash
Then carry it up flights of stairs and drop it in the vacant lot" bit, suddenly sounds mischievous when he sings it with the Voidoids.:D

Oh yeah, absolutely. (And it goes nicely with Verlaine's slightly garbled "(T)Elevation, don't go to my head" in "Elevation"...)

There's an anecdote about Richard and Tom that seems to sum them up beautifully. When they were teenage runaways together, they were once arrested for burning down a field. Tom Miller claimed they'd done it because they were just trying to keep warm in a cold world; he'd later take the name "Verlaine" after a French poet. Richard Meyers said he just wanted to see it burn; he'd later rename himself "Hell"... :D

LMAO!
'Fun' Richard interview: bookslut

 I love Bookslut, but I'd managed to miss that one.
It's absurd and embarrassing for you to place me among those who "can claim to have also had a significant impact on culture at large" as a "rock and roller" with a throwaway line like that. I do not make that "claim." On what basis do you? You think you're flattering me, but you're just being a condescending twat.

By the way, SFG, how's that list of your favourite albums from the last 10 years coming? Inquiring minds and all that.

I'm a rocker at heart, but I'd probably take Enya's greatest hits. I think I would rely heavily on imagination on the long, lonely days and nights, and her music is very conducive to imagining things. :)

If you are to get marooned in an island which some have electricity to operate you player, which albums would you like to be stuck with ? ;)

An interesting thread, I'm going to give this some thought, but I know already that it is not possible to pick a short list!

Agalloch - The Mantle
Death - Symbolic
Slayer - Reign in Blood
Rotting Christ - Triarchy of the Lost Lovers
Bolt Thrower - The IVth Crusade
Tristania - Beyond the Veil
Nest - Woodsmoke
Yanni - Keys to Imagination
Pink Floyd - Animals
Drudkh - Blood in our Wells
This is still mostly accurate, though I'd take Drudkh off and add Shape of Despair - The Monotony Fields.
