Getting Logged Out (and losing your post)

Update: After clicking the "remember me" button, I no longer have this problem. However, the "new posts" buttons next to threads still go away after 15 minutes of inactivity. Alas.

So what do you tell your kids now?

I'm glad the kid was found and is okay. And this is why I want to always be like a kid, no matter how old I get: Not that I like Pokemon, but that level of prioritization....*sigh* As for what to tell kids...I'd say that when they are very small, "don't talk to strangers," is...

Happy First Day of Summer - Officially

Once and for all, if there was any doubt, Martin proves that he is not female.

    Art projects

Zoinks! I didn't mean to imply that the instrinsic value of art is equal to its selling price. If that were so, painters, poets, composers, and other artists would be paid FAR more than they are now (if they are paid at all)! I was referencing extremely odd items that some might consider art...

What My Father Said - I & II

Ever read "Barn Burning" by Faulkner? Though the writing style is completely different, that's what I was reminded of--that and the books by S.E. Hinton. Not bad though, I did read it to the end. One thing I will say is that early on, you use a lot of adjectives. Adjectives are great--we...

The Undead, a poem (and not one about D&D)

I did, in fact, change it. Wonderful thing, that edit button. And I like blankly better than without emotion. I am working on this, novella, not just saying things like "good point" and ignoring you *grin*. It's not a particularly easy poem for me to revisit, but I'm chugging along in...

Despotism, a very very short poem

I'm sorry, novella, I'm not grasping your POV point (pun not intended). And I don't mean to say it isn't valid or there, only that I'm not getting it right now for whatever reason. I know you've got something, as it's you, and I understand the need to see a POV in general, but I'm not making...

Just Punishment? Or is there no answer for this?

*shudder* At the very, very least, this man (and I use the term generously) should never be allowed in public again. I'm not for bumping him off, because I don't think that's a call we're supposed to make, but to allow him to even approach another minor would be an unthinkable mistake.

Which films or books have challenged the way you think?

And for a more light-hearted, tongue-in-cheek movie that still has enough to analyze to make the most dour and introspective human being occupied for days if not weeks, the recent "I *heart* Huckabees" movie. That and it made me laugh harder than anything I've seen in years.

And if it's edible, it's gourmet. *grin* But seriously, at this point I have to interject my father's famed wisdom. Maybe I should say infamed. I think he was talking about the listed value of a car one of my sisters was trying to sell: "It's only worth what someone's willing to pay for...

Despotism, a very very short poem

Perhaps we are looking at 'despot' differently. I mean it in the sense that the girl has absolute power here, not necessarily that she's actively oppressing him. I thought that was what 'despot' meant--and autocrat, with a connotative association with oppression. The subjugation comes from...

Despotism, a very very short poem

The first part is supposed to be massively vague and universal-ish. I thought about removing flowers and putting "a small gift" or something, but decided against it. What I mean by "despot" is that the girl (in this story, at least), is much like the so-called "enlightened despots" of...

Tempting. You could decorate your entire yard with melting political figures--a very powerful statement, and if you add citronella they'd keep the bugs away. And some form of art that would let everyone see how connected they are to everyone else, so they would get off their rear and help...

    What would you miss?

English (unless I went to another English speaking country). Languages aren't really my gift, even though I can speak Spanish fairly fluently and a smattering of a few others. I would miss the command I have of my language, to be able to use sarcasm and subtleties and nuances to convey close to...

Interesting. I'll try marking the 'remember me' box *ignores the musical tune creeping into his head*. Thanks again.
