What makes a book a "favourite"?

I've read mountains of books of all genres yet if anyone asks me what my favourite book is, I stumble around my brain looking for an answer. The truth is I don't know what "your favourite book" actually means. Is it something that is written well, that changed your life, broadened your mind...

    An Interesting Character

Again this is another first draft and I wrote it in school. I need to find where most of my faults lie so I'm posting this in the hope that you lot will have no qualms about ripping it apart. And if there is anything I do well, maybe you would mention that too. :) The clock struck 5.00pm...

What do you look for in a book?

When you're reading, do you look for a good plot? strong characters? a new outlook on life? style? theme? a twist? escapism? Or do you just want to be entertained?

    Bargains

I love trawling second-hand shops for the odd gem. When I was a kid the rush from finding that Famous Five book missing from my collection was unbeatable. ("err....just give us 10p for it")! Just yesterday in visiting 3 shops in my local town, I picked up: "My Sister's Keeper" by Judi...

    Aidan Chambers

I only discovered this author fairly recently. His books are mainly for teenagers but I think that anyone who has been a teenager will appreciate his work. Postcards from Amsterdam and Dance On My Grave are my favourites. :) Anyone else a fan?
