Stranger in a Strange Land - Robert Heinlein (could contain spoilers)

You are not the only one. I really disliked that book as well, I did not even get past 50 pages. I did not really get what was going on and there was too much crap about sex, et cetera.

    New Dragonlance book

I am not a fan of co-written books, all of the ones I have read are poor. :( Anyway, I have never read a Dragonlance book; I would like to someday, which writer and series/book, et cetera, should I start with? The only Fantasy books I have really read are LOTR, Harry Potter series, and the...

    Science-Fiction suggestions wanted. . . .

I stopped reading Science-Fiction after I finished all of Asimov's books in his Robot, Empire, and Foundation series; I have been reading fantasy lately but I prefer Science-Fiction over-all, even though Fantasy is really good at times, like the Harry Potter, or Drizzt Do'Urden, books. I guess...

    Forgotten Realms

I love Forgotten Realms so far. I read my first book of it a while ago, R. A. Savaltore's Homeland. I am currently reading Exile. I really, really like these books so far. I was very happy to find these books, this book, I am so tired of those prancing elves, staff stroking magicians, and loot...

    Terry Brooks

I am not looking forward to it at all. The First King of Shannara was bad enough, it was very repetitive and it was very much like LOTR, just about every thing in it.

    Games, a waste of time?

Of course it is a waste of time, that is what games are for: to take up your free time. It is the same with books (when reading for entertainment). It is all a waste of time. The problems with people playing games too much has nothing to do with the games at all, it has to do with the person...

Do you buy, borrow or take out from the library?

The library. There is no way I could afford my reading habits. I have read 37 books in the last 3 months, let alone the past year; if I bought all of those books I would have spent a lot of money. Anyway, why buy when I can get them for free? I do not mind books being old, long as they are still...

    I've had it

Huh? Who started this thread? . . . Anyway, I kind of feel the same way, but I do not post here much.

    Robert Heinlein

That quote really makes me want to read a book by him . . . Which book was it from? I have never read anything by him but I hear about him a lot. I really like that kind of thing, one of the reasons I like Michael Crichton's books so much, even though he usually ties an okay story along with...

What have you read in March?

Complete list. The Lathe of Heaven by Ursula K. Le Quin. The Complete Stories, Volume 1 by Isaac Asimov. Harry Potter and The Sorceror's Stone by J. K. Rowling. The House of Thunder by Dean R. Koontz. Airframe by Michael Crichton. Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire by J. K. Rowling...

    Dean Koontz

I liked two books by him (The House of Thunder and Watchers), but I could not stand the third book, Odd Thomas. Watchers I quite enjoyed; The House of Thunder was pretty crappy until the ending, which was good one; Odd Thomas was just - for lack of a better word - bleh, the way he described...

Star Trek short-story / short story collection

I think it is by Gene Roddenberry, written around '80 through '90. The Enterprise went near a planet that was at war, half the planet fighting the other half. They would just through themselves into battle, not caring if they died; but they did not really die, a huge computer inside the...

    Michael Crichton: Prey

The Andromeda Strain is my favorite by him.

What do you mean by downhill? :P But anyway, I am obsessed. I am currently reading The Order of The Phoenix.

    Michael Crichton: Prey

I think Prey is one of Michael Crichton's worst books, same with Timeline and Congo.

    Why do you read fiction?

I read fiction mainly because I think most people are morons, and I get sick of their B.S., reading is a way to escape from them, at least in good books.

    Favorite new authors

The only person I can think of is J. K. Rowling; I just finished the first Harry Potter book yesterday.

If you were a writer, what genre would you write?

I would, with out a single doubt, write science-fiction. I would like to try to write some just for fun, because I have some ideas, but I do not really know how I would be able to make a decent story out of the ideas, and I do not really know how to describe certain things.

Do you skim or read every word?

I read every word, if I start to skim that usually is a very clear sign of my not liking the book; or that I am very tired or have been reading too long, but usually it is just the book being bad.
