Tom Wolfe: I Am Charlotte Simmons

A friend gave me this book. I read about a ¼ of it then put it down to start another read. I had every intention of going back to it at some point, but never did. I found it hard to connect with the story/characters. My friend raved about it (and she only rarely will indulge in fiction) but I...

    post embarassing confessions

I had a love of Motley Crue back in the day. Massive crush on Vince Neil. Sad. So sad.

    Richard Bachman: Blaze

I totally agree. The pace of Lisey's Story got to me in the beginning, but the story itself latched on. The Stand is one of my all time favorites. Just a fantastic read.

    Richard Bachman: Blaze

I was prepared to be let down by Lisey's Story, but I liked it. I know some of his newer works do indeed suck--THe Cell comes to mind--but now and again he still has what it takes. For me anyway.

    Joe Hill: Heart Shaped Box

Has anyone read King's son's book Heart Shaped Box? He goes by the name Joe Hill. I have yet to purchase it, but plan to. Interested to know what others think of the story.

    Richard Bachman: Blaze

I'm with eyez. I much prefer the US cover. I too thought King had laid Bachman to rest. Glad I was mistaken.

    Avatars

Not sure why, but I do like the idea and the imagery of fairies and I love to read. Sooooooo, a book fairy seemed spot on.

Hello and let's see if I get it right

Hmm, it's not so much that books and the outdoors are contradictory, but activity and books. Kinda hard (for me anyway!) to hike and read, swim and read, etc. But a nice combination is a lounge chair and a book :)

Hello and let's see if I get it right

Thanks! Seriously, I will read anything. I just browse and pick up whatever trips my trigger in the moment. Most recently finished Sharp Objects. I DO have a thing for historical fiction though. I'm in sunny South Florida which I love until hurricane season!

    what's everyone up to today?

I'm having a really good, mellow day. I joined this forum (yay for me), I'm haivng my coffee (almost noon, I'm going slowly), I'll take the dogs out for their walks, have a facial scheduled and do some reading. Nice ;)

    Recently Purchased/Borrowed

Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn .I really enjoyed this one. Dark subject matter, but a good read. The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield. Good story but it drags a bit. The Lie and Time of Thuderbolt Kid by Bill Bryson. Bought for a reading group. Funny bits, but not his best.

Good books about the history of Rome.

You could also try Jack Whyte's series The Camuloud Chronicles. The Roman empire and Roman citizens are the backbone of the series.

Hello and let's see if I get it right

Hi all, very new to forums..using this thread to see if I have the hang of posting, bear with me :) As much as I love the outdoors and action, I have a mad passion for books. It's my duality-- totally still and absorbed in a book (any kind, any genre, any topic) or constant motion. Anyway, hello...
