I always have found, and may be because I have a hectic home life, that sitting in a place where there is some noise, but not much in the background is the best place to read. Such places, like on a bus, or in the front room when the football is on, are two brilliant examples. The 'white-noise' effect of the sound is really good.. no definate clear sounds to focus on. This also goes for the rain. Sitting somewhere where you can hear the rain is brilliant too. Or actually tuning your radio to that space between stations, with the white noise. Turn it down, perfect reading.
You're lucky that you can read in the car. I get sick if I try to read while traveling. It makes long plane trips very boring. Reading in the bath is luxurious. Definitely agree with debee on that one.
I like to read on my boat. Strangely enough, I get motion sickness when even attempting to read in a car or any other moving vehicle. On the boat I read just fine. Until the beer to page read ratio goes up. Odd thing is, I find myself reading the same chapter over for weeks.
gonna sound a twinge wierd...but I like to read in my closet! I mean hey, It's comfy, and secluded, and one of the few QUIET places i can find. lol
Prone on the couch is my favorite reading position.
