Online shopping is always a gamble because you can't see the product in three dimensions.
And as for western books I have little choice but to purchase through the Internet because I live in Japan and my local bookstores, even the largest one, have hardly enough foreign books I want.
Recently I bought from Amazon a hard cover edition of On Writing by Stephen King, but the quality of paper was not as good as I expected.

Another good one is Tower Records (http://www.towerrecords.com/) they have a good selection and great discounts.
